thanks for the info cloudflyer, the 400 I have is a 400 watt radium bulb for aquariums its a super blue german light and its a 20.000k bulb from I gather the T5 is a smarter buy, you have 40k lumen more even distributed with no heat a much better spectrum and its about the same price .

no sir Im in the midwest I have a 20k 400 now but Im looking for some fluorosIve read and read and read and it just makes more sense to give them all 30 to 40.000 lumen than to give them a few hundo

thank ya for responding but I was talking more in the way of a T5 fluoro 8 light 48in system . at the local store they want 450 er' so for a 2 ft 8 bank system and Im sure theres a better deal somewhere in this country. they have T5's at walmart ???
