The Sensible Toker: Why Potency Doesn't Matter Any More

Actually, for all practical purposes, I live in a non-legal state. CT has instituted MMJ, but not one plant as been produced yet. I'm not medical, anyway, just have a small grow. Let me know more about what you mean by not relevant-- not to argue, I just want to understand your perspective.

The Sensible Toker: Why Potency Doesn't Matter Any More

Definately check out the middle article I posted at the end of my post. Its from Slate and ties right into the Functional High thing.

The Sensible Toker: Why Potency Doesn't Matter Any More

Thanks for the feedback vostok. Over the years I have developed a scale of 'functional high' from "Movies Only" to "OK to Drive." One of my favorite times to get high is while I clean the house, but I don't want to be forgetting where I left the vacuum cleaner!

The Sensible Toker: Why Potency Doesn't Matter Any More

Here is an article I put together for your entertainment. Feel free to chime in with your views. If folks like it, I will do more in the future. Why Potency Doesn't Matter Any More - The Sensible Toker Potency is currently one of the most common measures of a cannabis strain's value, and...

    Wtf???

My heart goes out to you. How many seedlings? I feel bad for the plants, too-- No doubt they would have lived a wonderful life in your care.

Fruity Goodness: Jillybean, GDP and Strawbery Banana Kush

Very happy with how this grow is going. One of the things I like about Jillybean is that they are fairly uniform from plant to plant-- and all of them are good enough to keep. They were about 11" when I flipped. Two of the Jillybean barely stretched at all-- they are now at 12". The rest of the...

    Going to apply for PTSD

Sory man, Yes you can grow, but it isn't legal for you to do so, and won't be under CT law any time soon. It CT it's all about big biz, a few corporate growers to provide all the medicine. No caregivers or growing for yourself under the MMJ law.

Defoliation Experiment - Side by Side Sister Clones

Do any of you harbor a tiny bit of guilt about writing pages that few want to read in an otherwise useful thread?

CNN Article on the 'Entourage Effect'

I am so glad for all the work being done to bring the benefits of canabis to the light of day. Here is a great read by CNN, talking about the benefits of all the acumulated actives the plant provides. http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/11/health/gupta-marijuana-entourage/index.html?hpt=hp_c2 Here's a...

Defoliation Experiment - Side by Side Sister Clones

BTW, if I were running a test on the best kind of flower pot, solid sided or Smartpot, I would put the canopies at the same height. It wouldn't be giving an unfair advantage to raise up the shorter pot, because the height of the pot is not what is being tested. In the same way, a we are not...

Defoliation Experiment - Side by Side Sister Clones

I vote for level canopy. If I were defoliating my plants I would keep the lght as close to the tops as I would on a grow were I not defoliating. In fact, one of the reasons I would defoliate would be to allow me to bring the light lower. Raising the defoliated plants up doesn't give them an...

Defoliation Experiment - Side by Side Sister Clones

Certainly am sub'ed. In terms of strain choice, my only thought is that the shorter flowering time will give the girl a little less time to benefit from defoliation-- I imagine (no evidence to back my theory) that defoliating sets the plant back a bit in its development, but having a larger...

    When does flowering actually begin?

This is getting silly. The term 'flowering' is a convention. We are not a bunch of biologists, we are hobbyists and commercial growers. The commonly accepted way to use the term is the same one breeders use when pitching their wares: weeks flowering = weeks from flip to 12/12. This convention...

Fruity Goodness: Jillybean, GDP and Strawbery Banana Kush

Now, finally on to the Fruity Goodness Grow. Just flipped to 12/12 two days ago (March 4). So, it was 5 weeks total from when the first one sprouted to the flip. I was really lucky-- six of the nine Jillybean turned out female. I was surprised that the sex was so easy to read this early on, but...

    Ace Seeds?

Just finished a grow of Bangi Haze. It is *not* 100% sativa, though it is sometimes reported as such. BUT the high is a beautiful sativa high and the plant finises in 9 weeks. I found the strain to be vigorous and stable, with only minor variation in my 11 seed grow. I grow in a basement space...

Fruity Goodness: Jillybean, GDP and Strawbery Banana Kush

In terms of the smoke (although I actually vape), I am happy with both strains, though they are very different. Here are the two strains side by side (Bengi Haze on the left, GDP on the right). GDP: The flavor off this plant is a strong fruityness that finishes with the pucker of grape. The...
