I use a metal halide for veg. It is a better spectrum for vegging. You can get a ballast that is switchable from MH to HPS. If you really want to get some light on them get the 1000 watt. But you will need a serious ventalation system for your space.

From my experience with cloning that is the beginnings of the root ball. Are you in soil or something else? If you are in soil just put that clone you looked at in the soil and in a couple of days you will have roots.

That could work but the vent pipe on your roof is only 1 1/2 inches (38cm) a 80 cm fan would be wasted. You would probably be blowing poo and what not all over your roof. And if that vent gets clogged for some reason you would get "blowback" all in your growspace.
