Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

Not usually used is not the same as not able to be used. I mean around here rice hulls and pumice aren't used for gardening either. One the bag it does say it can be used for hydroponics- in place of expanded clay balls i'm supposing. I found 1 website so far with info about it being used in...

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

Those pages don't have any info on how it's used in a horticultural context. So far I only know that it's not as porous as pumice stone and that it has some water retention properties- but I have no idea what that is like in comparison with perlite. For all I know perlite is wetter. I've just...

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

I was at the big hardware/garden store looking for a perlite replacement and although they didnt have rice hulls or pumice stone i did find something called Scoria... So does any know about it? I've done some googling but haven't really found much in the way of good info. Is it going to be good...

    Aussie Growers Thread

Has anyone used Scoria rocks? I've bought it today from bunnings as a perlite replacement. I'm making a soil and I don't want to use perlite as my aeration because it floats out and separates from the mix. Yankee's go on about rice hulls and pumice rock, but I can't find those around here... so...

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

...honestly what made you so sure that out of all the places man has inhabited on earth that I would be in Orange County? I'm not even on that side of the earth. I'm not asking for a particular store like "wall mart" but a type like "quarry" or "landscaping supplies" etc. I'm assuming its sold...

Hey i'm looking to see what I can get in the way of 'rock dust'. Some guy on a facebook local gardening page says he has some but doesn't know what it is. All he could tell me is that it has a mineral reading: " it has calcium 5%, Phosphorus .08%, Sulphur .04%, Potassium 3%, Magnesium 2.5%...

    Shade cloth

Look you said you started them inside right? How many hours light did you have inside? If you bring up a seedling under light longer than you are moving it to outside then it has a high chance of flowering. That's to say if it started out under the same light hours it wouldn't be flowering but...

lighting help- Indoor kale, pak choi, spinage etc under T8

I know they won't need as much energy as cannabis, but they still could potentially need a lot. I think the T8 has a starting lumens of only around 2000 so about a foot away from the light only 1000 and 2 ft 500 lumens. I am planing to grow things that are only around 1ft tall though hopefully...

To all my Aussie Growers got a question

It's a waste of auto really. If you put a regular seed out in winter (which it is right now) it will veg for a few nodes and then start to flower and stretch and then finish as a plant around 65cm tall (give or take depending on strain and conditions etc). So basically, any seed you plant right...

Super moon was cool. I too noticed how weirdly bright it was a little bit before I heard about the moon being 'super'

Sweet Potato 2013 thread! (and Hydroponic Tomatoes)

I expected a garden bed not pots :P Or is that where they are going when you transplant? Also they'll try to spread like a ground cover- if you are keeping them in pots are you going to prune them to keep the spread down or just let them sprawl?

lighting help- Indoor kale, pak choi, spinage etc under T8

Ok guys I don't know if anyone is going to have the info I need here but.. I want to grow some short leafy vegetables indoors under a fluro such as dwarf kale, pak choi and spinage. What I need to know is what kind of fluro (how many watts etc) will support these plants in a healthy way...

    Smoking or Medibles

Don't eat for a first time. Although you can't over dose to die, you can certainly over dose your comfort level. I seen a funny thread not long ago about a cop who stole some bud and baked it in brownies then called 911 and said he thought he was dieing from an OD lol Difference is smoking is...

Fungus gnats killed your crop? I thought they only have larvae that nibble the roots- making small new seedlings way more susceptible to greater level of damage but older plants the effect not so bad? I've even seen regular legal gardeners talk about not worrying about them on bigger plants...

Should the US government have the authority to create laws regarding morality?

You just 'considered' prohibition of meth. That was my point. You only decided against it because apparently it's impossible... meaning if it was possible you may well of done so right? That's my point right there, when a government can intervene to help the affairs of it's citizens it may well...

Will smoking my medicine ruin the cbd's?

I was going to say vape it... then I seen 2 other people say it already. But i'll also say this- get a volcano (so it's high quality and does what it's suppose to without burning etc) and turn the temperature to full. I think it's something like 225 celsius. Anyway I read somewhere that the CBD...

    Help about flowering

I can't speak for experience- i'm speaking from a textbook point of view. The scientific testing was done by other people and their results were summed up in both cannabis specific and also non-cannabis specific books. So honestly I can't say what exactly the bad result is, but it's significant...
