I hang mine until they feel dry to the touch, then jar 'em . . . 3-7 days. This assumes they've already been stripped of most non-bud growth prior to hanging. A large (appropriate sized) cardboard box on hand comes in handy on those borderline nights.

Yep . . . pistils along with sacs of pollen would indicate both sexes, and that pollen will rape your Indica's and stop/slow that progress as seeds form.

Yeah, the upper growth on the branches should be the most potent, for leaf smoke.

Assuming decent grade, yeah . . . you can get stoned off upper leaves. (on each branch) The lower growth, and true fan leaves, are usually not worth the bother.

Most of the fem seeds I've ever used have seemed to hermie. Granted, that's only three, but still, they were guaranteed 100% female, and weren't? (Attitude) I suppose it could be my methods, but other "known" seeds don't suffer this result.

Depends on how strong you want the weed to be . . . if you like a high-high, you're close. For a stronger, sleepier stone, wait for up to 50% to turn amber/brown. I think many strive for half and half. (peak?)
