What i've always gone by is just... have atleast 1 gallon of potsize for each month the plant is alive... If you had a plant alive from seed to flower for say 6 months, have a 6 gallon pot.... but Just keep in mind, the more room for root growth the bigger then plant will get.

a 250 watt MH will not give to much light, thats the most retarded thing I've heard. Outside you get around 10k lumens per sq foot in direct sunlight and a 250 watt mh is producing 22.5k lumens, how big is your area/how close is the light to the plant... but yeah you can't give to much light.

If there is any smell at all that means there is an odor leak or your carbon filter is not working. Go invest in a decent carbon filter! It will remove nearly all smell, and if your entire neighboor hood is smelling than you better hurry your ass.
