If you dont want your plant's roots touching the foreign, surrounding clay, you could put a garbage bag in the hole with a hole in the bottom and 2 inch layer of gravel for drainage. This way its just like growing in a pot.

hmm, good question. I dont know much about electricity but assuming the power consumption is the same, the advantage to using more, smaller bulbs would be better light distribution i think.:eyesmoke:

oh yeah, i soak the cubes in half strenght nutrient solution first. 25 degrees celcious and 80% humidity. nothing else personally.

Simple is sometimes best. I dip em in my rooting solution and put em into a root cube(2x2 rockwool cube) and keep em in a tray covered with clear plastic to keep humidity up and it works great.:blsmoke:
