    Fungus gnats in rez

I could definitely see how pests could manifest symptoms that are similar to nutrient imbalances in plants, and they could very well be doing that in this case as well. I did in fact go way overboard accidentally with nutrients a few weeks ago though, so the burn I saw is most likely due to...

    Fungus gnats in rez

Yeah 99% sure it's gnats. They're pretty small but I'll try to get a pic if I can

    Fungus gnats in rez

I am just about in flush getting ready to finish. I have some burn on the leaves but that was because of nutrient burn, too much phosphorus. No other leaf symptoms. I do have gnats in the root chambers....not tons, but some. No yellow strips. If it were earlier in the grow I might attempt more...

    Fungus gnats in rez

Thanks Future! I am going to do just that after this grow. I wish I used bennies but I used tap water instead of RO this time which has chloramine in it. Next time, RO with bennies for sure! Giving them a quick blast of plain tap water pH adjusted with 4-5% H202 for a day or two before resuming...

    Fungus gnats in rez

Never had any problem like this but when I opened the lid of the rez, there were literally hundreds upon hundreds of fungus gnats both dead in the water and flying around on the underside of the lid. I have no idea how they got there. The system has no media whatsoever (no rockwool, perlite...

    Deficiency or nutrient burn?

Thanks to both of you!!...I figured it was nutrient burn but that's never happened before. The nutrient solution is pretty much always 1/2 or 1/3 strength from the feed chart as you've outlined Dr. Who. This particular time there were a few new additives included and base solution was weakened...

    Deficiency or nutrient burn?

I was wondering if someone might help pinpoint what is going on here. These plants are about 2 weeks from harvest, and all of a sudden the leaves started looking like...well...burnt and very yellow. I know this usually happens late in flower but there must be something else going on here. All...

    Drying accidental success

So I just wanted to throw this out there and get some feedback. About a year or so back I had dried a crop in a bit of an unconventional way and it resulted in the best bud I've ever produced. I have not been able to replicate these results to date. To summarize, I pretty much did everything...

    Leaky Lids/tubs.....uhg!

That's amazing! That is the exact weather strip tape I bought yesterday! You're right there are a ton of different sizes and varieties. It seems to be holding tight with no leaks for the moment! :) Let's hope it continues to work! Thanks a million!!!

    Leaky Lids/tubs.....uhg!

Here are some pics that hopefully might help. I just bought a few different kinds of weather stripping foam and rubber weatherseals that I'm going to test out.

    Leaky Lids/tubs.....uhg!

Is it this stuff? http://www.homedepot.com/p/Frost-King-E-O-3-4-in-x-7-16-in-x-10-ft-Black-High-Density-Rubber-Foam-Weatherstrip-Tape-R734H/100047977 So basically just stick it down on the track/channel and rest the lid on it?

    Leaky Lids/tubs.....uhg!

I'm using large 50+ gallon plastic tubs from Home Depot to create a home made aero system where the the sprayers are fed in from the tops of the lids. The system works fine except for the one major annoyance - the lids leak.... well, more specifically, water seems to pool up in between the tiny...

Cloning with nothing but an airstone and a bucket of water

I'm doing a little experiment just for fun to compare cloning in an aerocloner to cloning with nothing but a bucket of water with some air-stones in it. I have had clones sprout roots in nothing but a cup of fresh RO water that I change every day, so I don't see why this wouldn't work. I may...

    Dimmable ballast vs full power

So I'm in the market for a few new lights and love the new Gavitas, particularly bc they finally run off of 120v. What I am wondering is if I should get 1000w lamps and dim them down to about 750w for most of the grow, then kick them up when flower is in full swing? Or just get the 600/750 and...

    My first finished run with a Gavita Pro, Results;

Gavitas are awesome! I am very curious about your plan to run the 1000w @ 750. Are you planning on doing that for the entire grow? I am looking to buy some new Gavitas and am wondering if I should get the 1000's and dim them down for half the grow or get the 600/750's and run them at full power.

    Leaky Uniseals...help!

Good stuff Joe! I wish I knew that sandpaper and alcohol trick when I was applying my silicone. Is the aquarium caulk you are referring to the same as this? http://www.dap.com/product_details.aspx?BrandID=67&SubcatID=27 That's what I was trying to use, but unfortunately it just peeled right off...

    Leaky Uniseals...help!

So I ended up scrapping the whole Uniseal thing because they just wouldn't seal properly with the curved buckets. Instead, I went with DIY bulkheads made from toilet gasket seals and PVC couplers. They seem to be holding up so far. No leaks and haven't had to apply any silicone! I think...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Have any of you out there tried using tea in an aero cloner e.g. EZ clone or Turboklone? I have had a bunch of clone stems fall victim to some sort of green mold (the upper part above the neoprene, not the lower portion of the stem in the cloner getting sprayed with water) and so I was wondering...

    Leaky Uniseals...help!

Huh, interesting. I never would have thought of the Vaseline. Maybe it's worth a try though I always thought petroleum would have some downside like either getting the pump if a little bit were to break loose, or coating the roots, but maybe not. I did check for burrs and there were a few, but...

    Leaky Uniseals...help!

Thanks panhead, great info! Do you think that the Vulkem would leech chems into the water? I read the ingredients, and there is some pretty nasty stuff in there. In fact the label says it contains several compounds known to cause cancer. Not that silicone, or anything else wouldn't also, but...
