That's what I thought too, but then I read into the description and it said: "has a broader sun-like spectrum of infrared radiation than incandescent lighting and doesn't emit visible light." It made me wonder if it gave off light that was beyond our spectrum, but still detectable by plants.

What are you using the infrared light for - a heat source during your dark cycles? That's about all it's good for.

Yeah, just get some 6500k cfls. Multiple smaller wattage bulbs is much more efficient and better for plant growth than one or two huge ones. Instead of a 250w cfl buy 10x 26w bulbs. The light to heat ratio is about as efficient as you will get. Any lower and the light isn't enough, any higher...
