I heard that putting the plant into flowering and then reverting it back to veg reduces the quality of the strain, no evidence to back this up its just what I heard.

grow the plants till they are as tall or big as you want them then switch your light cycle to 12 hours of light 12 hours of darkness and after a week or two, you should see loads of pistils if your plant is female.

I dont think the rope light will do much and I dont think its possible to hook a hps bulb up to a normal socket all the hps set ups ive seen have their own ballast. If possible put your plant near the window on a sunny day or in direct sun light it does wonders.

no that is not enough light for that many plants to grow nicely. They will grow but will most likely be real weak and a waste of time.
