Cool tubes are easier to cool and yes they have a smaller light footprint IMO. I prefer normal air cooled hoods when heat is not a issue and obviously space.

If you have a TDS go by how much they are eating. If you dont then I wouldnt worry about adding nutes since you will be changing water ever week. TDS meter is the best way

Yup, unfortunately there is not much of a way to preserve clones. Ive cut them and put them in the fridge for a week and then cloned em but no 9 weeks. Grow them out and trim them like the others have suggested.
