I would definately flush (with FloraKleen) for a full day. Set it to flood about 10 times during that day. Then go back to nutes with the ripen recipe. You're close to the end, but far enough away that any nute lock-out now will fuck it all up.

About 50% of my crap (crop) has a little powdery mildew. I'm sure it will effect the smell and taste. I don't really want to give it to my friends. Does the Bubble Hash method (bubble bags) filter the mildew? What can I do with the bud (over 1lb of affected bud)?

Coco coir huh? I've seen some great results with that medium. I am going to do some research on the differences between that and hydroton. My shit went kinda haywire at about week 5, and I gotta try to figure out why. Did you flush during the grow or just at the end?

With either system, I would recommend replacing all of the tubing between grows. It's a cheap and easy way of eliminating any root growth in the lines. I've got to take it all apart to clean anyway. My friend wants to try installing fabric root barrier in the bottom of the first pot so that...

I don't know about the 60hz sine wave. It does slowly creep up it seems. It's hard to tell with all of the ducting connected, but I've never heard the fan just suddenly just to full blast. It just works very well imo.

You could return it, but the next one may be just as loud. My old magnetic ballast was a buzz-monster. Suuuuuuucked! It resonated in my garage and you could even hear it outside by the mail-box (i live in a condo with a community mail-box). My new digitals are completely silent.
