Purple on plants can appear due to a number of things: It could simply be genetics, also stressed plants can cause purpling, abnormally low temps can also cause purpling. Also a mixture of these things, it's more prominent in some strains rather than others.

I usually veg for about 8 weeks from cut... sometimes up to 12... I just veg them until theres room to throw some in the flower closet.

My MH runs hotter than my HPS too... When I was first learning and on a low budget I started with cfls too. Made this fixture for my first plant I ever grew. (6) 23w CFLS for a total of 138w=1 plant. I now run two HPS though, much better results hands down! :weed:
