the best formula for me has been to start indoors 3 weeks before the last average frost date. so if you start them then, keep them inside for 3 weeks, then put them out after last frost risk is past (dont forget to harden them off) you have to match up the length of sunlight as best you can...

It will work, like your plants will still grow, but you will have better productivity with more sun, or stronger, undiluted sun. You'll get stronger bigger plants if you put them out in the open more. So depends if you wanna take the risk to get more dope I guess. I'm in same area as you said...

I can confirm that I've had Indy's that weren't autos, and they started flower under around 15 hrs sun. And I can confirm that I've have sativa dominants that wouldn't start flowering for me till they got right down to 12 dark.
