Aussie High Lights – we're official

LEDS because they are improving so quickly year by year it seems like you can save a bit of coin and drop 10 - 20% efficancy or whatever and get older models, not as efficient designs etc. I don't think the new highlights seem overpriced from a consumer perspective. I am someone who got an...

(HOT) Australia trials new technology to intercept seeds sent in the mail

In Australia's case Biosecurity is very important, we are an Island continent. I've had first hand experience dealing with a pretty bad quarantine breach, involved like a 25km radius to be monitored around the business. DPI don't play around, but could of introduced a vector for dengi fever...

    PGR Weed

I think what people are referring to PGR's used, at least here in Aus they are referring to Plant Growth Retardents subclass of PGR's such as paclobutrazol and chloremequat chloride.

Have had 3 seed orders come through this year to Melb, one within the last month. Not sure if it makes a difference but i don't opt for breeders packs or tracking. I know that comes with its own set of risks eg. Not the right seeds, no resends etc.

Depends which kind of coco? I know bunnings stock a hydroponic grade bagged in 30L, they also stock potting mixes from coco with added fertilliser. The cheap blocks are also sold as a soil amendment not a potting mix as well.

Yeh it seems with this canna specific no till method online most people are just taking the shotgun approach with fertillisers anyway. Shame soil testing isn't as cheap and readily available here in Australia

The point of cal-mag levels is a good one, that article is making. Without a soil test to see actual levels though is it that necessary first?

I guess it just comes down to classification etc. I generally see taproots referring to plants that have a specialized main root serving a specific purpose, ie food storage, water storage access to water etc. Like a carrot, or even a lophophora cacctus (peyote). I guess you can refer to that...

Most plants don't grow a taproot, as they are specialized root functions. Look at large trees that get uprooted, and check out how large and wide that root plate goes. But you do get specialised plants, like the Jarrahs over in WA that can send a long tap root that can potentially work its way...

Yeh I hear you on the dry salt route. I have run the autopot branded salt nutes in flood and drain hydroton setup worked well and fairly cheap. The salts aren't too bad to find, as long as you can find a greenhouse/nursery supplier they generally do some retial. I use to buy bunnings coco and...
