Plants are looking terrible and idk why? Coco/Perl + salts

Op, try increasing the leaf temp if you can. If you can’t increase ambient air temp with a heater throw an old school halogen/ incandescent bulb (or any bulb that isn’t LED if you can find one) in the tent and hang it right near the plant. This will gives the leaves some radiant heat. I had a...

Plants are looking terrible and idk why? Coco/Perl + salts

Before the coco I was using promix with added perlite and a few other additives sometimes and the best tasting herb was when I didn’t even water till runoff. The worst tasting was when I watered till runoff every day. There were other variables with those grows so I’m not 100% sure watering was...

Plants are looking terrible and idk why? Coco/Perl + salts

Besides this experiment I’ve not been letting the pots get bone dry, ( just noticeably lighter) My local hydro store told me the other day to “aim for 60% dryback”

Plants are looking terrible and idk why? Coco/Perl + salts

Usually around 2-3 gal pots. I’ve only been using coco for like 6 months so I can’t say much about it yet but I’ve done an experiment keeping the pots super dry and not watering till runoff and the smaller leaves of the bk which tend to fold and droop sometimes (it seems to be a characteristic...

Plants are looking terrible and idk why? Coco/Perl + salts

I’m using a coco brand that comes with 50% perlite yea you don’t exactly need the extra perlite but I believe it offers more aeration.

Plants are looking terrible and idk why? Coco/Perl + salts

The bubba kush I’ve got likes it pretty aerated and dry I’ve been using 50/50 coco perlite and there’s no way I could water this strain in coco every day till runoff without signs of overwatering some of the afghanicas I believe like it really dry.

Plants are looking terrible and idk why? Coco/Perl + salts

Are the pots lighter when you water them? Or are they heavy and waterlogged? These look like overwatered plants imho

    DTW recipes circa 2002?

Does anyone know how they used to do it in the 90s using rockwool? Were they using zymes and bennies back then? Or silica? Or did they use some kind of old school root conditioner like DMZ or maybe no added conditioners at all? maybe just base nutes with a carb source or base nutes and no xtras...

    Wollastonite as a soil amendment?

Yeah good call im actually trying to get away from amendments as much as possible I was gonna switch from potassium silicate (protekt) to amending with this but maybe I’ll just use less protekt and not use any during late flower I’m just trying to use less products overall and I feel like the...

    Wollastonite as a soil amendment?

Wollastonite (calcium silicate) as a soil amendment to boost resistance to PM Has anyone ever used this amendment? I know theres many common soil components that contain silica like sand and vermiculite but this seems a bit different. I’m thinking of adding this to a coco/perlite medium but I’m...

What has happened to weed ?

There was a lot more Afghani in the mix, up until OG Kush became popular. If it wasn’t some variation of Afghan/Skunk there was usually some Northern Lights thrown in there, or White Widow, or Blueberry etc. all of these strains have a much heavier Afghani influence than the OG’s and Cookies...

Old School Skunk, who's found it???

That 90s Afghaan looks interesting, esp the broad leaf dwarf pheno. grease rotten fruit and coffee terps too apparently. I wonder if it’s essentially the same as “afghani #1” From what I’ve read there was only a few desirable Dutch Afghanis at that time. Here’s a quote from Nevil: “There...

What has happened to weed ?

Some of us are lamenting the loss of Afghan/skunks which mostly disappeared from the commercial market way less than 20 years ago. They were floating around my area until 2016.

What has happened to weed ?

That’s not my experience I can chain smoke spliffs all day and still tell the difference between mid grade and high grade like it’s night and day. If I get a bag of mid-grade (all that’s available around here) I will literally throw it out after sampling a spliff of it because it’s not even...

Old School Skunk, who's found it???

^^also just to add this is just conjecture and rumors I’ve read for all I know Sensis S.S is the same as it was in the early 90s, I haven’t grown it personally.

Old School Skunk, who's found it???

Yea I grew the Shiva Skunk recently and it was a bit bland and of not reminiscent of the skunky weed I remember from early 2000s of course there’s rumors of that and Sensis S.S. changing during the late 90s however I’m convinced that that mid 90s version of Sensis Super Skunk is still out there...

Old School Skunk, who's found it???

My theory is that dank skunk that everyone remembers from 90s/2000s is not Skunk#1, but Afghan/Skunk. From what I can gather, by the early 90s the Dutch Skunk# 1 from 80s SeedBank days was probably not so hype anymore, and by the mid 90s the hype and strains introduced Lots of them were the...

Old School Skunk, who's found it???

Another quote from Nevil referencing the Afghan T : “The Maple Leaf came from a guy known to me as Jim Ortega. We traded seeds for a while. Not only did he supply me with Maple Leaf, but also Garlic Bud and Kush 4. The cannabis smoking world owes him a lot. The Maple Leaf line provided me with...

Old School Skunk, who's found it???

“Super Skunk or what ever it's called theses days, was prime breeding stock. This will be in a lot of the new varieties today. I once did an analysis on sales statistics. Mine and Sensi's. Super Skunk is the number one variety sold by volume of seeds. NL5xHzC was the number one income producing...

Old School Skunk, who's found it???

What kind of chemicals do you think the big commercial grows were using in the 90s? Eagle 20? IBA hormone all the way thru flower? Has GH changed the ingredients in their 3 part since then? Perhaps they were using a specific type of hydro nutrients?
