    Will this work for flowering?

That's one of the best things about CFLs... they can be placed close to the plants like that. This is a perfect application, so go for it bongsmilie

    Early sexing without cloning...

Is there a way to determine the sex of your plant pretty early without cloning? I don't think i'll be able to support clones in the setup i'm setting up. Could you let the sprouts veg for a little then switch to 12/12 for long enough to determine sex, then flip back to veg? Or would that...

hey thought you might like these pics of my 4 week old monsters

Maybe he's the one person on this board that knows how to use the color balance settings on his camera  That is one healthy looking plant, my friend.

I call it: The BillyBob scrOG.

I would've done that about a week ago, but I'm moving back to school in ...5? days. And there's no way I'm gonna grow in the dorm... So instead i just research, research, research. If you're stoned, it's a great read. :bigjoint: Also. once i actually DO my scrog grow, I'm coming to you...

I like this new light. Mix of T-5 & HPS

I'd be curious to see how the UV-generating CFLs do... I think UV LED bulbs are also incredibly promising. I haven't tried either though... Also, that fixture would have to be placed far enough away from the plants due to the HPS that the T5s are beyond their useful distance, i believe...

I call it: The BillyBob scrOG.

Oh, wow, you weren't kidding when you spent a lot of time trimming... That looks great man! I'm so excited to do a scrog... I just read the entire SOG/ScrOG bible straight through and have so many new ideas, haha... Keep us updated! bongsmilie

I'd be really interested to see pics of underneath the screen after you're all done trimming... Is it just the main stems leading up to the screen?

    Need a recommendation

So i'm looking to do my first grow. I'm going to be growing hydro and doing a ScrOG. It'll be grown under CFLs and (maybe) LEDs will be added for flowering... So, since i'm scrogging, i guess i'm looking for something branchy, something that does well in hydro and is easy for beginners...

    First Grow...

From that last picture it looks like you're using CFLs... get 'em closer! Looking good though

    split stem.

i would wrap the plant with wire, spiraling it around the area that's snapped until it's healed... this will just help support the plant while it does its thing. I wouldn't use tape. I don't like the idea of the adhesive on the plant

    Watts per square meter

Well, yes. There has to be a threshold. At some point the plants just can't take advantage of any more light. It's way the hell up there though, and i don't know what it is. I have no idea about the diminishing results thing. I've been told 150 watts per plant is a good baseline...

    dwc drain?

Now, i don't know for sure so take this with a grain of salt... I would imagine that if you permanently exposed some of the roots above the water level and circulated that air that you'd be giving them quite a supply of oxygen. But what you're talking about is basically transforming a...

    Potency with CFLs?

It'll give you a sunburn  You won't be able to see the UVB light it's producing. You might be able to feel some heat from it if you put your hand under it though

    L.E.Ds?

You do not need cooling fans with (most) LEDs. You completely wasted your time with the christmas lights. That kind of LED is nowhere near intense enough to do any good for plants. LEDs can be placed closer than CFLs. Most all of the commercial "LED grow lights" are hugely over priced...
