Breeding for authentic sativa happiness. Mextiza, Thai, Angola, Senegal...

These are the first seeds made with the Mextiza clone and the Ethiopian males. For sure a nice combination. The ones made with the same Ethiopian males and the Thai Angola clone are still on the plant, this one needs a lot of time and the cross is going to be extreme for sure. Sweet smokes

Red Snake (Oaxaca '79 x Colombian Punto Rojo)

These are the ones I prefer at the moment. 7 weeks. You can make an image on them, most of them are very tall, and very resinous, and have enormous calyxes. Buds are beautifully long clusters of flowers, and some are growing in a ridiculous way. Look at the canes in the background as well...

After a couple of weeks growing, I can say that many of the Mextiza F2 carry genetic defects like for example not showing a central sprout so they can't grow. At the end, only 9 plants look vital and totally OK. That is, anyway, a good number of plants for the last batch. Probably both good...

Orange Burmese: Biggest axillary calyxes I have ever seen

The flowers in sativas are usually the smallest. All the landraces I grew (real landraces) had really little flowers. The ones you show are full grown flowers and they are really big. But yes, sometimes these "axillary" flowers look like bigger than the usual flowers. I guess that being isolated...

    Milder strains

There are people who like CBD strains for that reason. The high is supposedly weaker since CBD has a sinergy with THC and makes its effect milder. Other than that, you could grow nice strains and seek and select for aromatic specimens instead of strong ones. Or harvest them early. Avoid...

I switched from High Pressure Sodium to COBs. My experience

Of course. I can control overheat. I can't grow with HPS in July and August without reducing power. With COBs I can keep growing, but I prefer to produce weed in cold months and stop in summer

Red Snake (Oaxaca '79 x Colombian Punto Rojo)

There they are at 6 weeks. There is some variation but most of them show their authentic sativa origin: long sativa buds full of enormous trichomes that shine under the camera flash. These big resin glands come probably from the Oaxaca '79, landrace sativas have very little ones normally. The...

Red Snake (Oaxaca '79 x Colombian Punto Rojo)

I've just discarded a plant that after 6 weeks was just starting throwing flowers. Too extreme for my tastes, and very very tall. A beauty, really, but there are other plants that seem to be doing better and shine with beautiful long sativa buds covered in crystal. I'll post pictures soon...

    ACE Ethiopian

Today I've discarded the three slowest Ethiopians of the bunch. They are two days short of 9 weeks 12/12 and they looked like that: The ones I kept look more like this: Still a couple of months left.

I've flowered under different regimes and I believe that you've come a little extreme. In the equator, the extremest natural photoperiod, the plants get something similar to 12,5h of light and 11,5h of darkness because of the effect of the atmosphere. Aren't you afraid of losing some flavors and...

Please recommend outdoor varieties that give indoor quality

That's your opinion. I've seen the opposite. It depends on which "weed community" you refer.

Please recommend outdoor varieties that give indoor quality

Probably not in Canada and northern US. Have you ever talked with somebody from southern Europe or North Africa?

That's a lot of time... 20 weeks in total? I believe there are nice weeds that are faster than that. I hope so!

Nice picture. I've grown Panama in the past and I've found some pink hair as well. Did you supplement with UV light? I believe it is very difficult to get pink hair indoors and UV could be the reason.

I used X-Seeds from BAC, there is some info if you goggle it. I don't know what's on it. It's supposed to be organic. I believe this work of breeding is providing knowledge as well as very nice weeds to smoke. I'll keep posting about how it goes. Sweet smokes

This strain is too endogamic. It means that if I made seeds again, most of the seeds won't sprout. I was lucky to get a F1 from the original stock and also a male, so I could make some F2 seeds, but many individuals show genetic issues, and subsequent pollinating to make F3 were unsuccessfull...

Now I feel that I have more patience than usual, and this happens because I've harvested weed enough in the last months to feel safe about my personal supply. I've got weed (curing now) that will last for months, so I can afford some months without production to harvest these jewels in good...

What I believe I'll do is to purge a couple or three of the slower specimens, these that after 8 weeks show just some scarce hair. These are not what I seek and I can gain some space in the tent and raise the production of the faster ones. Of course, I'll let the faster ones to mature, but I...

Hahaha noooooo! I'm not giving up. But I don't know if I can wait for 16 weeks, there are some more strains I want to test, and I'm finding faster sativas. Probably there will be faster specimens, but I fell I'm not even half way with these. I might use 13/11, but I'm more used to the opposite...

There will be no need for that, I bet these guys have learnt the lesson and now they keep their reproductive specimens around.
