you dont need 2 lights unless you want them. a 1000 mh bulb will veg nicely in your space, you need to make sure your ballast is switchable or you buy a conversion bulb.

you need MH for veg, not a have to have, but if you want to know most use MH for veg. if you need heat from your light as you mentioned you will be happy with MH bulbs, they run hotter than HPS.
