I dont have any tubes hooked up to the pots since they all have sufficient roots in the water and the water level is about 2-3 in from the bottom of the netpot.

I thought that at first too. the spots start out grey and then go brown and then turn yellow from the center of the spot working its way out. and then the hole leaf dries up and turns brown.

well I do have spots but Im not sure what is causing them. they start out as grey splotches and then turn brown and the bronze or yellow starting from the inside out.
