    dominance ??

Why not make clones of both plants and then force one clone of each to herm? This way you can make the cross both ways and see how gender influences how each one performs as a parent.

Hermaphrodites - what to do with them?

I put my herms in a different area with natural light to grow out. I know I'll get seedy weed, but hey, it's free weed since the alternative is to just toss them. I'm sure the herms I currently have will be at least as good as the brick weed they came from, so why not?

    Pot Size

I think some people do that, but I find it much easier to manage moisture in the pot if the plant and pot are matched, moving up in pot size as the root ball begins to fill the current pot. Just my preference. If you can make the final size pot work all the way through, go for it. Remember...

*Update* Madeline's week 7 of flowering

It's a waiting game. If you're not sure about the trichs, try sampling a nug a week and hope you find the harvest sweet spot before you smoke it all up!

Should I chop this AF on Friday?

I wouldn't wait for the trichomes to be 50% or more amber. According to everything I've read on this forum you probably don't want more than about 15% amber. Some will say less than that but very few would recommend more. You should definitely take a sample at no more than 15% amber and go...

    imho hydro sucks

I've been a gardener for over 30 years and I just plain like growing plants in dirt. And so I shall. To each his own. Do what makes you happy and don't worry about the talking heads.

Should I chop this AF on Friday?

I have a little note on my bathroom mirror that says, "You are looking at 98% of your problem"

Dr. BudGreenGene's Method (Fixed CFLs and "Full Spectrum") or a variation

Not to really disagree, but I'm having a different experience. I have a sativa type plant in an 8 inch clay pot.The plant is now over 6 feet tall, blooming on all the branches (typical Christmas tree shape) and on top, and is still stretching one or two inches per day. The rest of my plants...

    Help white flakes :S

I agree, it looks like mold or fungus of some sort. You can try sprinkling some powdered cinnamon on the affected areas. It's a natural fungicide.

    How cold is too cold

Mid 50's at night is no problem...it just might slow things down a tad but it's definitely no danger. You want to get it to at least 70 during lights on, though. The temps you're running will cause slow growth and development. If you can get it into the 70's during lights on and 60 or more...

    anybody ever use this stuff?

I got a bag full of small sample bottles. I've been using it along with other fertilizers (this grow is not entirely organic, although I'm always happy to use organic methods and materials) and the plants are happy. I just figured this looks like a good product with the humic acid, soil...

    anybody ever use this stuff?

A friend came up with a bunch of free samples of this stuff. From what I've read here, it looks like it has a lot of the stuff organic growers like. http://www.ladybugbrand.com/products/Johns-Recipe.asp

    Plant problems (pics)

On many plants the fan leaves will die off naturally as flowering progresses. If the new leaves being formed with the buds are dying, then you have a problem for sure.

    imho hydro sucks

As a long time gardener I am very comfortable with soil. I mix my own so it doesn't cost an arm and a leg and use commonly available fertilizers. For me soil is very forgiving and easy, hence my preference.

My house is getting to smelly!

I know some people are going to disagree with me, but I am using Ona Gel only and it's working fine for me with 6 females 4 weeks into flowering. Inside the room smells like Ona Gel, outside the room there is no smell at all. They are mixed indica and sativa types...all bagseed so I can't tell...
