Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

Prawn made a very specific argument.... and it's NOT the argument you made!!

Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

Wow. So we're not talking about efficiency. We're talking about total yield for a given light. Higher g/W means you yielded more for that given light. He said that for a given light, you will yield the same as long as the canopy is full. That means g/W will be the same. This is getting...

Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

Actually, the reason I didn't continue arguing with you on that thread is because we agree on so much, that I didn't think it was worth getting in such a dumb argument.. but then you made it again and started name calling, so I decided to call you out on it. Vegging for longer will on average...

Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

My point is that "plants saves on veg time" is irrelevant, and thus it's distorting the argument to keep bringing it up. That's a second argument that nobody disagrees with.

Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

This is WHY it's distortion. The part in bold is NOT the argument he made and NOT what I'm arguing against. NOBODY here has refuted that.

Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

Or I just think you're full of shit when you say that plants with less veg time will yield the same... but go ahead and keep distorting things. 1 foot seedlings starting 12/12 from seed or clone will yield the same as 3 foot bushes as long as you have the same flowering lamp and the canopy is...

Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

Why were you even asking about whether it's on an absolute basis if you weren't intuitively thinking "yes, obviously."

Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

So you think that more veg time won't give you higher yields then? There are only 2 answers to this. Yes or no.

Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

Okay, let me clear it up for you. There wasn't an argument for non-SOG. @Prawn Connery on multiple occasions has argued that a longer veg time won't result in a higher yield after the canopy is full and I refuted that argument. It's really that simple.

Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

@Prawn Connery Just to clear things up, because now people area confusing arguments: Do you think that on an absolute basis (per grow) that a full canopy of plants with no veg time will tend to yield the same or more than a full canopy of plants with excessive veg time? Yes or no. If you're...

Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

Again, that's not the argument he made! No one here is disputing that a SOG will yield better over time.

Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

That's not the argument he made though. He said it will yield the same or more.

Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

I never said it wasn't the most efficient form of growing. Never questioned it. In fact you have me on record now agreeing. Of course it is. (I've never thought otherwise actually)
  14. C

Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

I'm sure that's true, and with diminishing returns and popcorn lower buds, but @Prawn Connery was arguing that more veg time won't result in higher yield after the canopy is full, not whether it's a good idea or not.
  15. C

Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

I mean absolute yield. (per grow)

Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

My more data-dictated approach shows that a full canopy of taller plants with more veg time will tend to yield more than a full canopy of shorter plants with less veg time. Whether it's a better use of light or space is a completely different question all together.

Why spend $$$ on a flowering lamp if you have a $ veg lamp?

To summarize this entire argument, more veg time doesn't increase yields, except for the times it does increase yields.

    Spoken like a true defoliator.

Harvest too early ... or not??

Harvesting earlier or later is not a good way to get the effect you want. Get the right genetics to begin with and take everything to ripeness.

Harvest too early ... or not??

Definitely too early. No question about it.
