i saw somewhere that more light output comes from the side of the cfl, than the top of it. so if it was hanging straight down and a plant under it, would give less output than turning the bulb sideways? see the pic.

can i but an HPS bulb at like home depot or something for a plant or two that will screw into a regular light bulb socket? and are they good for veg and flower?
