I hooked up a Vermilogic RO unit last night. Water 'in' is 230ppm, water 'out' is 220 ppm. I'm thinkin' that my meter is reading particles of carbon that comes out of the filter. Is this what's going on and should I be concerned? Will the output ppm go down eventually?

You should consider doing a comparison grow with a couple of those.

I've seet ghetto grows where they used white printer paper scotch taped to cardboard panels for reflective walls. Not a half bad idea I gotta say.

There is some info in my journal where I only watered once (the initial RW soak) and had nice roots in 10 days. My thoery is that the cutting should live on capilary action for a few days then the RW needs to dry out to a slightly damp state which forces the plant to root and find water.

Get the air-cooled reflector. If you don't buy the proper stuff you waste money. Your plants will do better with HPS in veg stage than in a hot MH tent. You can always add the MH bulb later when you got the cash.
