To pop seeds a seed mat works helps..I put mine on with the seeded rockwool cubes into solo cups half full of hydroton- then put a sandwich baggie over the top loosely to form a mini greenhouse - works great -spritz them daily with ph-ed water

I agree with hydro- rooting out in rockwool has several benefits including ez transplanting and ez flushing later on if needed. You will need to ph down your water- I ph down to 5.8 or 6 & pour it into a spray bottle-then just give it spritz once a day- in the first week or so you can help them...

Actually I detested autos until I ran outta seed & was forced to germ them.. Actually I like them now because they keep on growing well into flowering- hope it get a decent yield but I would grow autos again for sure...built aero-rails because of the daunting expense of what would have been my...

The plants seem to like extra air time...but hate to dry them out -they are so happy...was thinking about the possibility of lengthening the interval- I bet they would be fine at 8 min off

I agree 4" fence posts seem shallow- 6" tubes plus support for a long veg could easily be viable- like you say DIY is best because it can cheaply be modified for improved design

The supplemental crap in your hydro nutrient starter kit- all you need is the 2 part nutrients & cal-mag- everything else clogs the sprayers or so I read- they can still get clogged with root debris so its recommended to clean them after each run

I grow in aero you don't even need medium just hang your clones in netpots- see the sticky called harvest a pound every 3 weeks for Stinkbuds aero system plans- awesome system works great

I rooted mine out in rockwool & set it to 1 on 5 off in the beginning but they were getting saturated- switched to 1 on 12 off for awhile until the roots were well established- then ended up back at 1 on 5 off. I'm saying that's a good interval if your roots are hanging from a netpot without...
