that hood would produce a pretty isolated light beam. I would say keep it 2-3 ft away and check a couple times with your hand at the top of the plant if it is getting to hot. If you do set it and it doesnt feel warm on your hand sometimes it feels to hot to the plant and you will notice dark...

Not saying it wouldnt "work" I just feel it is overkill for seedlings. Also for cfls I don't use normal cfls. I have 3 150w cfls that require a electronic ballast on some babys right now. They go under the hps tomorrow after 1 1/2 weeks so im not saying to keep them under cfls forever just long...

I'm guessing the soil isnt draining very well . When soil doesnt drain very well it can create pockets of nutes which can be toxic to your plants. Wouldnt be so bad if it was just the bottom leaves but new growth as well appears to be changing which means during its growth its either missing or...

any hid isnt good for youngsters imo. Think of it as throwing a infant in a tanning bed. I use cfls and t'5s till third set of leaves.
