    Suddenly Sick Plants

OK...I think I solved it. I decided that I would water them by hand with a stiffer shot of the PBP Grow, a bit of CalMag and a drop of Thrive Alive. It really seems like the color is flooding back into some of the lower leaves...even within an hour. I think they were starving for either...

    Suddenly Sick Plants

I live in a city and use urban tap water for my hydro system. Is there any reason to believe that there would be a Cal/Mag deficiency in regular urban tap water or is that encountered more in RO or distilled water? I'm thinking that my plants sudden display of difficulties might be this or...

    DWC Pump Volume Flow Question

Are you talking about the air stone disks? Thanks. They look interesting...is it 1/2" intake? I got some other airstones without thinking...they took 3/4" - not good. I should add, however, that I've read that air stones can only oxygenate the water to a certain degree. I don't know what's...

    Alaskan Ice Bubbleponics 400W Grow

Is there a reason for keeping the light so high? My 400w is at about 15" and I don't feel heat/burn on my hand using the "hand" method. I thought that you lose lumens the farther away the light is. Thanks!! Good thread. Will be watching.

    DWC Pump Volume Flow Question

My system consists of a 14 hole tray sitting on top of two reservoirs that hold, in total, about 25 gallons. The nutes are circulated continuously via a pump located in the bottom reservoir. The roots are always in solution. My question is whether the amount of solution the pump is pushing per...

    HPS Distance From Young Plants

Hey, thanks for the reply. The temp depends upon where I have the thermometer. If it's lower than the plant level and out of the light, it's generally in the low 70sF. If it's in near the plant level and exposed, it tends to get closer to the upper 70sF.

    HPS Distance From Young Plants

OK...I know this is one of the perennial questions, but here goes...I have a 400W HPS in a PL Midi reflector. Not air-cooled, other than a fan that blows in the space in between the light in the plant tops. At this point, the light is probably about 14" from the tops...using the hand test...

    Walking Down the Hours

Is there any reason to walk down the 18/6 hours of light to 12/12 over a few days approximating the natural cycle? Or is the quick cut to 12/12 just fine? Thanks for your thoughts/experiences.

Hydroponics Question and Answer NewGrowth Style

Hey NewGrowth, thanks for the explanation. You've given me food for thought. I don't mean to spam your thread here but I have a couple of more questions, one that stems from your recent description. The other is a bit more generic. 1) Do you think it makes a difference how much of the root is...

Hydroponics Question and Answer NewGrowth Style

Yes...I have the pump capacity for six airstones although I am lately led to believe that this may be overkill. Apparently, the water can only oxygenate just so much via the airstones, or something like that...and the recirculation also provides oxygenation. I may cut down to two in each tank...

Hydroponics Question and Answer NewGrowth Style

Actually isn't it more of a deep water culture because the roots are always sitting in a tub of nutes? Of course, I don't know my ass from elbow around some of this nomenclature. I should add that 5 years ago I did about three grows. Each one was better than the next. So I think this system...
