    Light question

Basically you just want the light as close to the plants as possible without burning them. If you've already got it as close as the plants can stand, then you're good.

    curious!?????!

This is not misinformation. Plants don't care if your light has one hundred or one million lumens. What matters is how much of that light is PAR, or photosynthetically active radiation. What you're looking for is readings between 400 and 700nm for full spectrum lighting. This is where LED's...

    curious!?????!

I'm not saying they produce denser nugs, but they are very capable of growing equal quality buds. What I am saying, is although the lumen output is lower, this is made up for by outputting more light in the proper PAR spectrum that the plants need to grow. A lot of this light is not visible to...

    curious!?????!

Like I said before, lumens don't matter to plants. Lumens are a way of measuring the amount of light humans can see. PAR is a measure of actual light that plants use in photosynthesis. Even an HPS lamp has its spectral analysis given in PAR. You are right when you say I am biased towards...

    curious!?????!

There is absolutely nothing I said that requires backing up. These are things I learned while growing with LED's. Nowhere did I say I will get the lumen output that I would from an HID. When growing with LED's, lumen output is not what matters, its PAR. Someone had questions regarding LED's...

    curious!?????!

I also forgot, its a myth that LED's don't produce heat. The actual diodes themselves don't, but the circuitry that powers them does. It's a lot less heat than any HID's produce though, my growlab hasn't seen a temp over 84 degrees.

    curious!?????!

Its actually a myth that LED's don't produce dense buds. There are some medical dispensaries that grow exclusively with LED's for the quality of buds they produce. Where you need to watch out is when you're sorting through manufacturer claims and all the other nonsense out there. For example...

Just letting everyone know that Lumigrow has a sale on the ES-330 right now, its $300 off! I had to pay full price for mine!! Check it out athttp://www.lumigrow.com

Yeah, the only reason I didn't go for the induction was I wasn't able to find any grow journals of people using them. I didn't want to buy it based on pure hearsay, whereas I was able to see the LED light in a demo setup at the hydro shop, and they had some real big peppers growing with it. If...

I was interested in induction lighting myself, it seems real promising but I went with the LED instead. I certainly have no regrets about it. You can find my grow journal Here

    LED/Fluorescent Grow

The plants have taken to the FIM quite nicely. Each plant now has two tops (as was intended) and are growing rapidly. I have a ton of bud sites and am 3 days into week 2 of veg. I was originally going to start flowering at the end of this week, but the growth is so short and bushy that I...

I can assure you this is not a troll account, I just had to stop growing for a while but I'm now contributing to the LED users thread, and have a grow journal of my current activities LED/Fluorescent Growl

I bought a lumigrow es-330 from my local hydro shop, and I was really scared to shell out $1500 for a light, but I'm glad I did now that I've seen the results. A 5 year warranty helped me make my decision also, plus the fact the its made in the U.S. I try and support American made brands...

Reef, The new generation of LED's are capable of burning the plants in the same way HID's do. The lights don't look as bright in pics because the color spectrum is usually just red and blue (my unit also has white), but the lights are very intense. You can still get really good penetration...

SW, Is it the LED or the CFL's that are creating your heat problem? Just wondering because I have a 330W LED plus 216W of T-5's and I don't have temps any higher than 84 degrees in my little growlab. Thats with a 4" eco-plus inline fan and a 105cfm dayton axial fan for the intake. If...

    LED/Fluorescent Grow

I've got a total of 4 plants, 3 silver haze #9, and 1 sharksbreath. They're all doing awesome with the LED/T-5 lighting combination. I also highly recommend the House and Garden nutrients. One of my favorite things about them is they have the right amount of magnesium and calcium in the base...

SW, Don't turn off your CFL's. Theres been a few studies that show fluorescent light is the perfect complement to LED's. I had just my LED for about a week while my T-5's were on backorder, and once I installed them I noticed the growth is just explosive.

SW, The best way to tell if the light is too close is just by watching the plants. If its too close they'll start to burn just like with an HID. My plants started shriveling and turning yellow. After I moved the light i haven't had anymore issues

    LED/Fluorescent Grow

Thanks Rutherford, if you have any questions about my setup feel free to ask. Theres a lot to learn about LED's that noone really talks about. For instance, I learned firsthand that they are very capable of burning plants if they are too close to the light.

Heres a few more pics. These were taken about 1 1/2 weeks into vegetative growth. The plants have since been FIM'd and are now starting week 2 of veg.
