I keep mine about 8 & 1/2 inches above canopy, have never burned or even singed a leaf.

I might add: that for lumens per dollar you would be better off buying a 600watt Hps, but location often dictates necessity.

sorry no pictures but my local Hydro supply shop has a wonderful display growing a banana tree under one of these units. perhaps with a little googling you can find some.

The combo light comes with two on/off switches one for the T5s and one for the Hps, so yes you can turn them on and off independently, thus allowing one to grow from seed to harvest in one small area.

For veg I use a 4ft. four lamp T5 , then for bloom the 516 w/bloom lamps as previously mentioned. Like yourself I had a limited space, so after much research I went with the combo light. I have grown in the past with 600 watt hps lights, but they would not be appropriate for this particular...

It can be situated very near the canopy, also (depending on who you purchase it from) you can choose the T5 "bloom" lamps rather than the advertised T5 "grow" lamps. the 516 model can easily deliver enough light to coax 15 plants into full bloom. Big,dense,resin soaked bloom.
