If tobacco were illegal, would people grow it?

I grow tobacco and it yields fantastically; generally around 3-400g a plant and it is a very forgiving plant. Granted the curing process is much longer and fairly energy intensive but people would grow it, people already do. Something very appealing about organic tobacco with no additives.

Is a solar blanket the same thing as a fire blanket?

It's rather difficult to tell actually. Mylar is biaxially oriented PET if that helps, I think it is the metallized stuff you want. Other cheap sources of it include "emergency blankets" used to conserve shock victims body heat. Hope this helps. :)

Oh Wow! TINY New Plasma Bulbs

I understand where the confusion arose, colour temperature with reference to the lights shows up a lot more on this site. I studied General biology (not cryogenics) at University and although not commonly used in the text books, it appeared a fair bit in the primary research papers. I know wiki...

Oh Wow! TINY New Plasma Bulbs

Kelvin From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia For other uses, see Kelvin (disambiguation). The kelvin (symbol: K) is a unit increment of temperature and is one of the seven SI base units. The Kelvin scale is a thermodynamic (absolute) temperature scale where absolute zero, the theoretical...

    Blowing on plants

I totally get you friend. All Mary J needs is a bit of water and tlc. She won't piss and moan at you if you stay out late or don't tell her where you're going; won't say a word if you forget to shave. Plus, lets face it, the high more than makes up for the sex you're probably not going to get...

Oh Wow! TINY New Plasma Bulbs

I'm not convinced. They mentioned 140 lumens/watt which is comparable to HPS. The spectrum is much like that of the sun so I can imagine a lot of the light being wasted. Besides, they mentioned the thing gets up to 6000 kelvin, surely there have to be some associated heat issues? My money for...

    veggin teh clonies

That very much depends on how large your grow space is, what the time constraints are like, in addition to how patient you are. The plants should double or triple their size during the 12/12 cycle. I believe general consensus is to wait at least until they're 12-18' before you put them into...

    getting rid of withered leaves?!

I'd be inclined to leave them to drop off on their own. The plant will remove most of the nutrients and use it for new growth. The only time I'd consider removing the leaves is if they are blocking light from reaching the budding sites. Happy growing!

    Bugz!!

Without being more specific as to what sort of little fly it is, all I can suggest is a general pesticide. Make a tobacco infusion and spray it heavily on the plants at night (or whenever you have the lights off). Providing it isn't in flowering yet, I'd also be tempted to add soap pods (which...

400W HID question, please help. +rep

That depends on the voltage your running it from, I assume it is the same in Canada as it is in America which is 110V (in Europe we use 230-40). A 400w ballast is nominal, if you take a reading then it will be closer to 440w depending the the heat of the thing, a cool ballast is a happy ballast...

    12/12 or not yet??

They will double or triple in size from being put into 12/12 cycle. I'd leave them a little longer unless time or space are constraints. The longer you leave them, the bigger they'll get, the more budding sites they'll possess and the more they'll yield. Happy growing.

    Sinsimilla seeds

Is it possibly that it was a hermie and you didn't spot it? If so, your seeds should all come out female though will likely be more prone to turning hermie under stressful conditions. They should be fine. Happy smoking!

20 day old plant with foxfarm soil problem

It'll be fine mate; like Jesus said, as long as the new growth looks healthy there is nothing to worry about.

20 day old plant with foxfarm soil problem

It is quite normal for the coleoptile to die off during development so I wouldn't worry about that. Likewise with the first true leaves but that usually happens way later in development. Personally I would use the 1/4 strength nutes and watch closely to see if it helps. If it doesn't, don't add...

    When Should Topping be done?

The FIMmed plants should produce more branches at the apical tip. Both will encourage side branches to grow though. Aim to FIM and if you accidentally top them then no real harm done, you'll just end up with 2 branches instead of 2-5. These branches can be FIMmed again and again keeping the...

Running out of time, Need Advice!! (Pix)

The small bud sites will give you a little buzz if you smoke it as a blunt. Smoking the leaves isn't worthwhile. Dry her out first though and cure if you have the patience. Enjoy friend.

Going away, what can I do?

I agree with the watering well before you go. If you put them in a much bigger pot then they'll retain water for longer. You can also add some water control granules to help them along the drought. You'll be fine mate, happy growing!

    I think these are Females

Possibly but there is nothing you can do now. It's good that you're cautious but it'll take a little while before any of the male balls mature and open up to pose a fertilizing problem. You can leave them to develop for a little while to be sure of it's sex. Happy growing!

Running out of time, Need Advice!! (Pix)

The plant will put on most of it's bud weight during the last 2 weeks. It's a beautiful looking plant but it certainly isn't worth getting caught over. Personally, unless odor and the subsequent security risk isn't too great I'd leave it as long as possible but that is just me. You'll have the...
