i would take an organic potting soil, and mix it with worm castings and perlite. less worm castings than soil, and plenty of perlite... 25% castings, 37% soil, 37% perlite. this is in no way a golden standard, everyone has their own recipe. good luck

many grocery stores sell it, call around it shouldnt be hard to find i personally like the idea of sugar + yeast...used properly it will allow a gradual (timed) release of co2, but whichever.
