Hey So I'm about to have a 1000watt hps goin down, and it seems sketch to have a cheapo mechanical timer running the thing, though it can handle the amperage (15 amps max, i know it should only have to deal with 75-80% of that).. seems like some folks have problems with mechanical timers...

actually i figured it out, the key is to not be retarded. actually i'd say just use the tek as inspiration, because all bulbs are different, and they are not at all easy to open with a vice grip, like homie does.. what i did was use a hack saw to cut the plastic at the top of the male socket...

so in the growfaq there's this great idea on how to open a CFL and use the wires to hard wire in to a circuit, eliminating the need for sockets, as well as making them smaller.. im all, "great, im so doing this" i dont know how the fuck this fool opens a cfl ballast, but its not happening...

yeah, the bulbs you have would be ideal for flowering.. well actually an hps would be IDEAL, but if your into CFLs... Also, they make CFLs in the 6700K range that would be great for vegging.. i have just standard CFLs, 27 watters... doesn't say anything about the color temp, but they had more...

depends.. are they that color because they pass therough a filter (ie, a colored shell, like colored xmas lights), or do they emit high levels of red/blue spectra?
