How much room between light & ceiling? 400 watt HID

You can put the light right up to the ceiling. There is a slight difference in heat output but not much.

    Interesting lighting question

I wouldn't do a light mover as that would only further diminish the light to the table with only 1 600w. Plus the maturing plants don't need the super intense light toward the very end of their life. So maybe you're better off just keeping the lights spread evenly over the two tables.

Need HELP Designing my STEALTH Closet Grow Tent!

You want the air to go through the filter as it exits the tent to kill the smell.

    Fellow growers, need your advice!

You need to consider the height of your light and the pots. So I'd guess roughly 50cm? Minus the distance you need to keep the light from the plants = 95cm of growing space. Depending on how long you veg. you should be able to make that work. I'd suggest adding a screen.

    CLOSED LOOP ..enough oxygen?

Plants breathe CO2 and produce oxygen, completely opposite of how we function. As long as you're providing adequate CO2 and good circulation, you have nothing to worry about.

    Prepping for first DWC 600W

In DWC your main fear is going to be root slime. If your temps get too high (75+), you will notice a brown slime beginning to form on your roots. Once it has started it can be tricky to get rid of. You can use a tea to keep it away but making tea takes time and can be messy. I use botanicare...

It looks like you have everything you need. Put everything together and test out temps/pumps/timers before you plant any seeds.

    144watts per square ft. ???

You say you aren't willing to sacrifice your 'high quality' for yield. Well the two are inversely related. Strains with super high quality usually yield relatively low, while super high yielding strains typically aren't top-shelf. This is why great genetics are so important. Genetics will beat...

    Cloning question

Generally cloning from flowering plants is not a great idea. The plants have to revert back to vegetative growth which takes extra time and decreases potential yield. Also you're cutting possible bud sites from your flowering plants and stressing them at the same time, also reducing yield.

    Topping off res question

I agree with superstoner. The extra oxygen the roots get when the res is low is actually good for them, as long as you don't wait too long to refill it.

    New grower, few questions!

Your first mistake was letting the hydro guys tell you what to buy. I'm totally not trying to be a dick but these guys just want you cash they could care less what you grow. No grower should start out with a 1000w light or an ebb&flow system. There's just too much that can go wrong. My...

How much extra time am I adding by topping

I'd say another week before you can take clones. If you would have topped them instead of fimming, you could have used the tops you cut to clone for sex.

5000k cfl & 2700k cfl at same time????

It is fine, and possibly beneficial, to have a mixed spectrum of light but I'd recommend using 75%/25% (6400K/2700K) for veg. and opposite for bloom. Also for CFLs make sure to use the actual wattage instead of the equivalent.

my second grow room in progress

Just keep it simple and it'll turn out great for you. No real fire hazard with CFLs just don't overload any outlets. Keep it up :leaf:
