Vortex Inline Fan to Cool Light

The logic behind this is sound and I double checked the physics (God help me) and Cervantes is correct regarding the relative enhanced efficiency of pulling versus pushing air in a semi-closed ventilation circuit. And in the parlance of Newtonian physics, inefficiency equals heat - our...

Vortex Inline Fan to Cool Light

Golden reply. Thanks to all. Medi 1 and fourtwentychat differ in their opinion of the primary function of the fan, i.e. to pull or push air. Let me restrict this question to ventilation: the most efficient exchange of air. Quoting someone smarter than me, "A vent fan pulls air out of a room...

    430W HPS in a 400W ballast

Well, I've been told I have a good profile from the left. After my bone-headedness, a man has to have something. O.K., I am clear. It is safe to place a 430W HPS bulb into a fixture controlled by a 400W ballast. As described in the sentence above, it is not an electrical hazard. Thanks people.

    430W HPS in a 400W ballast

dyzel, thanks for taking the time. I'm guessing you meant to say, "They don't work in the 400 W ballasts". Correct or not? Again, thanks.

Vortex Inline Fan to Cool Light

Can anyone point me to a site or a youtube on how to best put together a Vortex inline fan + ducting system to cool HPS light (in reflector) with duct apertures built into both sides of the reflector? I'm not a handy-man.

    430W HPS in a 400W ballast

I had considered placing an augmented 430W Philips Son Agro bulb in a 400W ballast. Is this a poor idea? Do I risk a short circuit and/or fire?

    Best Nutrients For Soil Grows

Novice here considering Jack's Classic Dynamic Duo - the recipe for "tomatoes" from Growing With Jack website. Seems close to what I've learned here and the Cervantes book.

2 kinds of fox farm grow big??

You are both correct! Everyone wins. I went to FoxFarms, clicked "Feeding Schedule" which brought up a pair of PDFs, on for soil systems, one for hydroponic systems. They both listed the sort-of same six products with different concentrations on different schedules. The only product of the...

Indoor Soil Grow: BlackJack in FoxFarms

Allow me to throw two ideas out there. 1) Jack's Classic Dynamic Duo is attractive for two reasons: a. its simplicity, and b. its NPK ratios. 2) One would assume FoxFarm's formulations to be balanced with their Ocean Forest soil (which I've chosen). Thoughts?

Indoor Soil Grow: BlackJack in FoxFarms

Greetings. Novice doing first medicinal blackjack grow indoors with FoxFarm Ocean Forest & Perlite around 2:1. Need to control aroma (and complexity) a bit so no fish bone meal, et cetera. Suggestion please on reliable brand(s); non-organic is OK: 1) vegetative 2) flowering Thanks people.

    Fox Farm Trio

I have a similar question. I came across this schedule from FoxFarms: http://www.nationalgardenwholesale.com/ngw/literature/Soil%20Systems%20Soluble%20feeding%20schedule.pdf As you can see, they base it on a 12 week cycle. If anyone is familiar with their nutritional additives & fertilizers...

    blackjack

You've given me lots of ideas. Good up front design. Thanks. My cat's brother, who also lives with us, looks (amazingly) just like your cat. Clearly, my two cats' mother was a kitty of ill repute.

Newbie's First Grow: Need Reliable Potting Mix

Yea, I'd be lost without this place. I like your username - big Jerry Stiller fan. Check out the remake of "Hairspray" if you haven't yet.

Newbie's First Grow: Need Reliable Potting Mix

mcpurple, thanks a lot - that would be majorly helpful. I'm at the very beginning. My journal is basically a log of research from forums like this and an attempt to organize the informational clutter. Fortunately that kind of thing is something I'm pretty good at. I've got boxes of equipment...

Newbie's First Grow: Need Reliable Potting Mix

Ganjatopolis and mcpurple, thanks for taking the time to reply. Those answers were exactly what I needed: short, sweet and to point. On a good day I can only carry three or four facts in my good brain cell. That said, I can't afford to be cavalier = ). I read a guy's post from Holland (in...

Newbie's First Grow: Need Reliable Potting Mix

thalboy, thanks for the direction. I just finished the thread. Fascinating stuff, but a little beyond my level of horticultural understanding. Can someone break it down for a novice? Nobody hurl thunderbolts at me, but I'm not married to the idea of growing organic. In fact, I'm not even...

Newbie's First Grow: Need Reliable Potting Mix

Starting a small, medicinal grow and I need a simple, reliable, low-maintenance formula for potting soil. If I have to do work on the composition, I'd rather do it now. I'd prefer no changes in the potting mix seed to harvest. Just give it filtered water for first two weeks and, of course...

thalboy, if you could that would be great. This is my first, and a PM on drying and curing would be wonderful. Thanks a lot. Curious about your soil mix as well.
