    iso/ethyl hash?

Ethyl alcohol is the alcohol you drink (though if it is at that % it will be denatured with a puking agent added so it is tax free). It will work but it boils at 78.5C, if memory serves, so it'll take AGES to evaporate. I think a clean butane as the others are suggesting will be your best bet.

how much light would i need!

12*12 is a large area, 144 square feet. Bare in mind you want around 7k+ lumens per square foot for good results. If we go along with the 400w HPS ballasts; each gives around 55 000 lumens sq feet * lumens per square foot / lumen output of HPS = Number of HPS ballasts needed 144 * 7000 /...

    Shortest and fastest flowering indica?

Have you considered some of the autoflowering strains? They're small (generally under 2ft) and will be finished from seed in about 70 days. They do tend to be a bit bigger and take a little longer than advertised but still very quick compared to other strains. Sadly the yield just doesn't...

    Auto flowering seeds pros/cons?

Just keep the best male. It makes good sense to seed these strains and they don't lend themselves to cloning.

    Auto flowering seeds pros/cons?

Yes, word of warning. Some people, me included have reported a high percentage of males in lowryder strains. I got 8/10 males which was disappointing to say the least. This is unusual but I think the average appears to be less than 50/50. It may be worthwhile investing in the feminized variety...

    Auto flowering seeds pros/cons?

I'd think that is a little optimistic. I'd have estimated around 12. They often don't stay all that dwarfish under 400w HPS; quite often reaching 2 ft rather than the quoted 12-18 inches. Your best bet would be to see how many 2 gallon pots you can fit into your grow space.

400W HPS in 600W digital balllast?

+ Rep for proving me wrong. I have seen some expensive digital ballasts on the market with a "plus 10% electricity" setting to get more light out of the bulb in expense for life expectancy. I would never have thought, the bulbs could handle 33% extra without melting down.

400W HPS in 600W digital balllast?

How long did it last? Was it spectacular?

400W HPS in 600W digital balllast?

Ballasts are used where a load does not regulate its own current consumption well enough. These are most often used when an electrical circuit or device presents a negative (differential) resistance to the supply. If such a device were connected to a constant-voltage power supply, it would draw...

    What should i get?

I'm afraid you're going to have difficulties with that. Indica strains (with the stoned sleepy feeling) tend to have a shorter stature and faster flowering time. Sativa strains (with that lovely head high) are generally bigger and have a longer flowering time. You can get around the height issue...

Tricks of the trade; increasing THC content.

I was referring the the water curing/solvent extraction/isomerisation friend. Interesting but not what I had in mind. Transformers are horribly inefficient, I'm sure there must be some 230v ones on the market. I'll do a search soon. :) Sounds good; the pictures look beautiful and the short...

Tricks of the trade; increasing THC content.

*Grumble* that bulb will be 110V, useless here in the UK. I'll have a look around for an equivalent. Having a CFL black light would probably be a ton more practical than trying to move the hefty 12V battery into the grow room (bloody integrated lights). I guess I was still ambiguous with...

All 6 of my clones died...

Without more information it's difficult to judge but my guess is that you didn't keep the temperature up. Clones like it rather hot to take root 21C+. What light did you have them under?

Tricks of the trade; increasing THC content.

Let me know your results. I'm currently growing an auto flowering strain so I doubt it would make an awful lot of difference.

Cool, cool, I'll give it a try.

How many 45 watt cfl light bulbs would i need to cover a 3ft by 3ft vegging area??

I think HID lighting is the way to go. Granted the heat is more concentrated on one spot but the overall heat production will be less. It is also more efficient and will save you a lot in the long run due to the higher lumen/watt output. For veg I'd think a 250w Metal Halide system would suit...

    PH up down....

Yes, if the water is hard it'll take longer but it will dissolve. Just use warm water and stir and stir some more.
