Lowryder Dwarf Mix HPS & CFL Grow

They're getting pretty damn big! If space isn't a concern for you then the stretching won't really matter (heck you may even get more light to those lower branches). Mine are now on day 18 and still not showing any sign of sex (I'm taking this as good news). I'll be happy if mine grow as big as...

    Indoor Growing Problems

Personally I'd keep the fan on when the lights are on; attach it to your timer via an extension strip. An hour a day just isn't enough as you're starting to see. In the mean time you can offer some support by with a bamboo stick or something similar, toothpicks may work for the time being. Happy...

Lighting On A Budget - Help

There is a link for a $20 150w HPS floating around in the forum somewhere. Get a couple of those and buy yourself some mylar to make the most of the light available. Fans/ventilation are a must when using HPS/MH. Happy growing!

    5 leaves or 7 leaves....

All develop 7 eventually but that happens later. Leaves come singularly, then 3 blades, then 5 and finally 7. Expect a lot of 5's before you get any 7's. Happy growing.

    square footage questions

That is some pretty intense illumination. As for your pots, I'd go for the 2 gallon ones because having the roots tangle up is detrimental to the plants. If you want to use a 15 gallon pot then divide it up with bin liner to prevent this. Still, the 2 gallon pots will allow you to turn them...

    3 SETS of leaves?

You have what is called a whorled phyllotaxy which is not detrimental in any way to the plant. It is a very common mutation in mary jay and can be passed along to offspring without causing ill effects. More branching = more budding sites = higher yield. I have a random bagseed showing this trait...

    I need some answers.

I agree with hellraizer, time to pull the plug on this one. It just isn't worth getting caught. Come next year you can plant outside with less risk to yourself and family.

    Will it work?

Yes you can put it in 12/12 now. It'll grow more slowly than in 18/6 (obviously) and will flower automatically once it reaches it's minimum level of maturity (which varies from strain to strain). Not to worry though as it will double to triple in size once it starts to flower. Thank you for the...

    Will it work?

It would work if you're are regular as your timer but I wouldn't recommend it. From my experience, chances are you'll forget or be out and end up leaving it for longer than 12 hours or you'll alter the amount they're getting day by day +/-15 mins. This will cause your flowering plant a lot of...

    When to top

Sorry, I have you a topping link, not a FIMming one. It is essentially the same thing but instead of removing all the growth tip you leave about 20% of it intact. Here is the proper link. https://www.rollitup.org/view.php?pg=faq&cmd=article&id=482

    When to top

Generally top when it's on the 4th or 5th node (which at 3 weeks you probably should have). You may want to FIM instead as it has all the advantages of topping (i.e reducing overall height and encourages side branching/growth) but you'll end up with more apical branches. Happy growing! Here...

    need some help please

That is a good way of watering plants as it encourages the roots to grow downwards in search of water increasing plant stability. I myself am not doing this because it isn't practical to have so many plates at the bottom of my grow area because it's more difficult to pack in the containers into...

    35 watt hps?

I'm afraid it does require a ballast. You'll be better off buying that $20 150w HPS, the link for which is floating around somewhere. Ballasts are used where a load does not regulate its own current consumption well enough. These are most often used when an electrical circuit or device...

    need some help please

It'll take a few days for the seeds to pop out of the ground; be patient. As for your grow light, you could probably bring it in much closer but that doesn't matter much at the moment. They will sprout if the light is on or not. If you do choose to switch the light off to save electricity...

    Halogen lights...yea or nay?

I'm going to go with nay. They're pretty inefficient (comparable to incandescents) and throw out a lot of heat. If you're on a tight budget go with CFL's, I've seen some pretty good grows with them and the amount of lumens/watt will pay back for the CFL's very quickly. If you can, go with HID...

    LED Grow Plant Lights...

That 45w LED = 200 HPS is a bunch of marketing. I have great hopes for LEDs in the future but at the moment the technology just doesn't cut it. If you insist on using them though, go for the blue ones as apparently they're relatively effective for vegetative growth but the red just doesn't work...

    3 stems on the node!

Did it also have 3 coleoptiles and 3 first true leaves? I currently have one of these in my grow and asked the same question. I figured "great, more nodes, more budding sites!". However, the replies I got was that it does occur from time to time and will result in very leafy bud not worth...

    Bugz!!

Get yourself one of those plant misters, fill with warm water and throw in a fair bit of rolling tobacco. Nicotine is water soluble so let it steep for a few hours, heck just leave it in there. 1% nicotine solution retains it's effectiveness for up to 30 days whereas 5% does so for months.
