It depends on what strain you have, how well it flowers, but I live in Illinois and they gernerally start in about the end of june or first of July.

Sand is very fertile in itself, But it dries out and water leaches through quickly, if you could add some organic humas or compost it would help out alot. You'll probably have to keep an eye on the water issue though, Goodluck.

I don't know where your located, but if it gets up to a hundred degrees, and the humidity is that high I wouldn't want to hike too far to take care of them.

Will Big Bud grow well outdoors? How about finishing in time in upper Midwest?

If I was going to dig them up, It would be for some other reason other than they'll flower, because they won't till sometime in july. I'd be more worried about soil, hrs of sun, and if the're going to be spotted.

Clay has a lot of helpful minerals and some nutes, nothing wrong with it if you can limit to about 15%. Also it tends to be acidic.

Six inches of top soil won't due it, Idealy you should have twenty to twenty-five inches of good soil. If you can't at least break your hardpan up with a long spade. If you don't you'll have some water and stunted plant issues.

Illinois is a long state, quite a big differance between Rockford and Carbondale. I live in central Il and there are lots of things to plant. I'm planting blueberry-skunk this year. Last year it was a purple indica, and it finished great.
