Quick Question ... what is the light period for seedlings? I've read 24hrs ... and I've also read 18/6 ... not sure ... my lights will be on for 18hrs around 6:30pm?

Hey, as you can tell I'm new ... I have a large empty basement in the New England area ... and thought turning it into (or at least part of it) a grow area would be a good way to utilize that space. I have seen several seed sites ... but was wondering do you and should I have the seeds shipped...
