The new growth on my Mother Plants are only growing 3 tip leaves. My clones were like that and now they have been in the flowering room for a week and they have 5 and 7 tip fan leaves. What does this mean? Can anyone help?

I am just wondering if i should put an airtstone in my grow tray or my resevoir. I currenty have it in my resevoir. I don't know if i should have it in both or just one or the other. I have been told that when the pump goes on for the aeration that it creates its own oxygen but I am not sure...
