sorry, that picture is no longer accurate. I changed it so i cut a hole in the dome for the light to stick in, so only the bulb portion enters the dome, so it's about 2 inches higher than shown.

So I am doing my first grow, planted 10 seeds in rockwool and am having trouble maintaining a nice temperature. With the humidity dome on it goes to like 65 degrees when not covered, and with the dome covered with a blanket it goes around 82-90. And if I leave the thing so the dome isn't on...

Sorry, I just was wondering if that made a difference at all? Is it not important for the seeds to be in a high humidity area? Should I just put the rockwool in w/o the dome, and place the light about 6 inches from the rockwool?

I'm doing a hydro grow, i forgot to mention, and they go in little tiny rockwool cubes, so there is still like 2-3 inches between the rockwool if it was right underneath the light.

Just a quick setup for the first week or so to save on energy, for getting the seeds started. I am worried that the light is way to close to the plants, and if so, how far should the light be? I mean the farther away, the less light, so I dunno what to think. I also think there might be heating...

the alternative would be to put two lights just above the dome, but then it would have to be like 2-3 inches from the dome due to heat, and then it's like over a foot away from the plant, and they're only small CFL's, so i'm a little confused as to what is the best method.

this is such a rookie question, but does that still constitute a soil grow?? I mean, the square thing is the rooter plug I guesss? And that's where the bulk of the roots grow? and do they just grow in between the hydroton balls as well? Where would I buy these things?

Okay, i've got to ask, what is the growing medium that you are using? As in those circular thingies and the square thing that the plant is growing in. :)

Thanks for the info bud! That sounds like a little more practical than my idea. So how about getting a 2 BR, and then maybe having 3 grow tents (each progressively larger)? That probably would be WAY less work to set up. If I closed the blinds, would the grow tents shine through the window...
