The langbeinite will most likely work quicker for you if you are top dressing. Kelp is better working if worked Into the soil earlier and since it expands it helps with aerating the soil as well.

P.s. I know what you mean about hauling water. I use a sump pump to fill a holding taken where I can gravity feed my plants.
