No Fucking Jobs Anywhere

i hope these politicians are real fucking comfortable with their desk jobs, getting paid millions of dollars annually with their nice pensions and corporate connections, not paying taxes, etc while fucking recent college grads like myself, with a bachelors in hard science, can't find a job for shit, anywhere

im fucking exhausted, my spirit is shot, and i'm tired of being told to "STAY POSITIVE, HANG IN THERE". fuck you, i'm 23 and i want my life to begin (starting with some financial independence)...and i dont want to have to break laws to try and make ends meet but this shit is becoming more like survival

you should try finding a construction job in california. it's nearly impossible. i know skilled tradesmen who haven't seen a paycheck in two years and can't even get a job at home depot. every third truck on the road has a cheap magnetic "handyman service" sign hanging on its door and these bozos are cutting into a business that it has taken me the better part of ten years to build. half of my old clients have lost their jobs or their homes and most of the rest are waiting to see what the clowns in the capitol will do next. what little construction is happening is using semi-skilled and illegal labor, offering wages that have been deflated by the influx of illegals over the past couple of decades. all the while, government employees are successfully fighting for their inflated pensions, making double the salary they would in the private sector and demanding the wage increases that were negotiated by corrupt officials during better times.

staying positive is a fool's errand. negativity is the only alternative to violent revolution.

just look at what is happening in bell, ca. can't be too different in other places.
it is in the nature of government to expand beyond what is reasonable, to take advantage of the faith of the people and abuse the power they have provided. there is no proof against such corruption, only a wary citizenry may escape slavery to the state.

it's like the nature of human beings- for men to obtain material possessions to make them feel better about their social standing. From what i see, diff cultures just practice this same concept differently....but the items/possessions associated with each practice change. men stay men though. unfortunately, in the USA, social standiong (and pride) is measured in net worth of US dollars.

this concept makes my blood boil sometimes- and my mentality changes. it's not like im lookin for wealth. i just want financial security/independence.

"the system"- the way things work, is just aggravating. i want to become a naturopathic doctor, helping to heal people using a variety of plant medicines- extracts, tinctures, etc. but then i looked online to see that pharmacists earn 90k+ fresh out of a 6-year school program. so its like shit, if i want something for myself, i cant help but go against the values i live by

blah i can indeed rant when im frustrated, but ranting on here or through poetry helps

you must not do good work. my dear old dad down in phoenix does great work and gets the regular word of mouth clientele to keep him more than busy. and he is in a part of the country where home values have collapsed, construction is dead at the moment, and illegal immigrants abound. he is not worried about what the clowns in the capitol are doing or those bozos in every third truck. if you can't get business over these bozos, that is a clear indictment of your work. just focus on quality and the business will follow.

but i suppose it is easier to rant in purple prose to a bunch of stoners on the internet in self pity, eh? self pity is awesome:hump:

for every job your dad does there's probably 10 others looking for it. while quality does help, luck helps out a lot. being in the right place at the right time. nothing to do with self pity. do you go around here just trying to start shit? you leave that impression on me.

i seldom resort to such simple insult, but i doubt you are capable of comprehending much else. you may insult my ideology, but never presume to demean my abilities or pretend to understand the vagaries of a market out of control. it's attitudes like yours that have destroyed the construction industry in this state and the livelihoods of many an honest tradesman along with it. when one's competition is willing to live in squalor and there are idiots willing to allow a third world mentality to overtake an entire industry, craftsmanship and honesty are little defense against avarice, envy and the despair that has begun to take hold of california's homeowners and businesses.

how is that an insult? that is an observation based on experience. when you do a good renovation at a fair price, other people inevitably see it and want the same. good work continues itself. if there is anything i am picking on, it is the attitude that everything is everybody else's fault. you even blame me for destroying the construction industry in california. get a grip, dude.

thinking positive does not always bring positive results, but thinking negative almost always brings negative results - bob rotella (paraphrase)

I have to agree with the others here, that was a low blow! Even if it were true you can't just go around making assumptions about people. Just because 1 person you know is doing fine doesn't mean that everybody everywhere should be doing fine as well. I know many people in the trades who are very talented and do quality work who can't put food on the table. I know a few who are getting by but nobody I know is can honestly say that things are great. These are extraordinary times my friend and there are many good people who can't find work and the simplistic answer of "You just aren't looking hard enough" or "Maybe you should get a minimum wage job at Whataburger" is complete and utter b.s. Insensitive comments like the ones you are making in this thread are inflammatory and counterproductive. I'm not even sure why you would make such a statement to somebody you have never met and know virtually nothing about.:-?

I would take the job at whataburger! It always easier finding a job while you have one, no matter what it is. These are extraordinary times, sometime's call for exraordinary measures. I just got punted from Employment insurance cause there is not enough people to fill all the jobs around here. I found a job the same day, now my income will be the same I just have to work 8hours a day. :)

I understand what you are saying but for somebody who has a degree and has been working at a professional level, taking that job at Whataburger could be career suicide! And if someone is getting unemployment why would they take a job making less than they make on unemployment? Before I launched my own business almost 2 years ago, I had been laid off and fast food places wouldn't even hire me and I have a master's degree! These places know exactly what you will do when you find a better job so why hire someone who is grossly overqualified when there are thousands who will gladly take the job making less money and might stay? Competition for jobs in some places is fierce and if you don't have anything to make you stand out amongst most of the others then you don't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting hired anywhere!
