Computer Thread

Google as added a historical "look back" feature on Google Earth. Resolution not great at least what I looked at. Appears to update automatically if you have Earth on your PC.

Since pretty much forever I always bought reman desktops and stuff from Tiger Direct. TD was bought by insight.com. Haven't bought anything there yet but need a newer PC. Looks expensive though

Unbeknownst to me. I had a ton of Microsoft Rewards points so I got this "update" for 3 pc's at least for another year.

30 TB, can you imagine? (I hadn't looked at pricing in a while and see 20TB in the $2-300 range)

Seagate Exos M 30TB Enterprise Internal Hard Drive HDD
My first HD was a 20MB HD that cost $650 (1988).

My first "computer" was the Cambridge Programmable that I bought in mid-1975. It's the one with the purple display and it needed a 9 volt battery. I was a college student, studying for a BA, so it wasn't very useful to me but it was amazing that you could tell a calculator "what to do".

AI based scanners at Hertz :(
"Most stories involved Hertz and Sixt, but notably, one individual said they had to drive their Avis rental through a scanner at LAX, while another claimed that Enterprise was using a scanner at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. Neither noted any problems in those instances, but these reports show that this technology may be gaining ground even more quickly than the public realizes."

If you're running Win10 and plan to do so, you can get at least another year of updates mostly for free. I had a little trouble with one PC getting the necessary link to appear, but just backing up to OneDrive (free) or paying off with MS reward points (1000) will do it. Don't' know if they will continue past a year.
