F1 Purp Valley Ice x SSH

My last indoor crop, I tested the deep purple Valley Ice (sativa dominant) pheno. It ended up throwing sterile bananas, and I still dont know why. What I do know is that the same cut didn't do that when I grew it in the greenhouse last year.

The effects are pretty sweet. Its an uplifting high, cerebral, and a mild body numbing sensation.

Noticing that this particular plant is sativa leaning in structure, I got the idea to cross it with Super Silver Haze in order to make it a stronger sativa. I also recently aquired seeds for two different Mexican sativa strains, and they will be used to pollinate the purple later in the project. The goal is to make my own version of a delicious Purple Sativa.

Im thinking of names that include Valley Ice...

I popped 36 beans today.

I will be selecting the 9 most vigorous females. Selecting the male is going to tricky. I want a purple male that is displaying strong SSH genes. If the male selection is bad, then I will pop some SSH seeds and cross a SSH male to the best F1 purple female.

Other plans for this year:
I will run a clone of the Purple Valley Ice and make more F1 seeds with a vigorous SSH male. Unfortunately I only made 60 seeds in the last dusting. I need around 500 seeds for this project. I would like to have a reserve stock for future use.

Anyway thats all for now.
Cheers

well Purple Valley Haze is the best sounding name so far. so purple valley ice haze
lookin great too. best of luck with it :weed:

Chopped down 5 males. They are generic, nothing interesting about them. All of them had a pineapple terp profile on the stems.1749797149236.jpeg
Ive identified 4 females so far. Most of the plants are displaying SSH plant structure, with fruity Valley Ice terps. One plant in particular really stands out. It looks identical to the SSH father, yet it clearly has a strong purple pheno. The stem is super sticky and smells like ripe mango! (All of the fruity terp profiles come from the MTF lineage.)
Im not sure if this plant is a male or female, but I will definitely be breeding with it. Hopefully it proves to be a stable plant.1749797182187.jpeg1749797196133.jpeg

I shuffled 7 plants into the flower tent. They are all looking a bit hungry, but all in all they did well in those quart containers.
There are 4 unique plants that I have high hopes for. One of them seems to be a uniform fusion of both strains. I will take more detailed pictures of the plants once they fill out.
I decided to LST, instead of topping them. I will take clones when the plants are 3 weeks into flower. Revegging the clones will be a simple stress test to see if the plants have hermetic tendencies. Fingers crossed they prove to be stable.1750690336363.jpeg

Im going to scrap it. I will have to plant more SSH seeds and find a good male to cross with the F1 plants.1750690461011.jpegThe remaining six F1 plants are going in the greenhouse today.1750690516339.jpeg

I did some pruning and defoliating today. I rarely defoliate, but in this case it seemed necessary. Im trying to get a full and even canopy before I flip them.
Im going to flip them to 10/14 to reduce the initial stretch. I did an experiment with this on my previous crop and it worked out well. I increase light by 30min in week 3. Week 4 light is 11/13. Week 5 light is 12/12. Week 8 light will be reduced to 11/13. Week 9 light will be 10/14, and stay that way until they finish. Im anticipating 10-12 weeks for some of these plants. Wont know until I get there. :blsmoke:

I took 2 cuttings of plant #1. Im pretty sure she is the best candidate to make the F2 lot. She has vigor and is quite robust compared to the others. She took the hot soil like a champ. I would say that she is still a light feeder, but definitely not as sensitive as the other plants. Hopefully she is stable.
FYI, I splice my rooting plugs in half. Works great.

The plants are drinking half a cup of water a day, some of them 1 cup. Judging by the rate of growth, I think I can flip them sometime next week.
Ive decided to take a cutting from what is officially plant #3. She is starting to really fill out and the rate of growth has sped up. She looks a little sensitive to N, but still manageable. She has the strongest pineapple scent of this batch. Looks like she inherited some interesting sativa genetics. Doesn’t look like either of the parents. She is kind of an anomaly.1752019318634.jpeg1752019330919.jpeg

I gave one plant a soft flush today. 4 cups of water, to help her out. This plant is displaying the strongest SSH traits. But as ive mentioned several times throughout the thread, she is a light feeder and sensitive to N.1752133478676.jpeg1752133493793.jpeg1752133503212.jpegThis is how everything is looking today. They are taking in 1 cup of water a day, which mean the root systems have gotten larger. Based on their current growth rate, I think I can flip them to flower, this Sunday. Super excited to see how the flowers develop!1752133525228.jpeg1752133534870.jpeg
