Best Soil Mix for Outdoor Marijuana Growing

High all :D

A good close friend of mine is starting her first outdoor grow this season and she's trying to decide on the best soil mix. Some say to go organic with compost and worm castings, while others suggest store-bought options. What have you found works best for healthy root development and good yields?

Cheers

Is your friend going to be visiting their grow regularly to tend to it, or are they guerilla growing and feeding one time at planting and retuning to harvest later? If it’s a one and done planting, you’ll want a bunch of slow release stuff to feed over time. If it’s regularly visited, you have more options.

Regularly

You’ve got lots of options for fertilizer then. You could do a standard “salt” that’s mixed up and fed every time, or something like a granular formula that’s topdressed and watered in sporadically. You could also build an organic soil that will feed the whole way through, like this dude did.

ok, well roots organic would be my choice of soil for the plants potted life.
im in the united kingdom, we have loads of differant ones that are differant to ours
so wait till you get an american grower's input.
kudoes for keeping it organic, i believe organic weeds smokes better than chemical fed plants.

you need to get some
seaweed meal
comfrey juice
fish blood n bone meal
some chicken manure
bone meal
just to name a few soil amendments
you need to know your soils PH, So invest in a good PH testing kit.....very imortant, you need this to know what to give yur soil in the first place

I’ve got some home made organic soil mixes broken down and listed in my grow journal that I’ve been tweaking. Feel free to take a glance through it, and try out any of the recipes if you like the results.

I don't know about cannabis growing outdoors, but my fruit trees were planted in compost made from shredded plant trimmings, horse manure, and straw. Folks who have horses usually are willing to give their droppings away, all you need is a truck for transport, even buckets in a trunk might do. I got several truck-bed's full, so not an insignificant amount, enough for 800 square feet of garden. Pile the manure with shredded trimmings and let it cook for a little while, mix it good. Once its cool, it can be spread thick on the topsoil, even a foot thick is good (provided it no longer heats up). I made drainage trenches for my fruit trees, about a foot deep, and all the trenches were topped with that homemade compost, so it looks pretty much level. Any rain we get (which is rare), the trenches channel the water to the trees, mostly sprinkler water. If I dig in the area, pull a weed, the soil mix is near black. I get a decent crop of fruit from the trees every other year.
