When can I put my plant outside and avoid flowering? (14 hours of daylight?)

I keep seeing conflicting information and every single thread I find about the topic has different information, I was hoping someone could help me get closer to some facts so I know how soon I can put my plant outdoors.

All the reading and videos I've watched on the topic lead me to, a minimum of 14 hours of daylight, 14½ if I want to be safe. Is this correct? Does it depend on strain? How do I know?

For reference, the day length is currently 14 hours and 5 minutes, the strain is Frisian Dew, and it has been growing indoors until recently, currently getting 16 hours of sunlight, to acclimate it to outdoors. (It's outdoors all day and gets an extra few hours of light under an LED indoors to keep it in veg)

Where you at or what lattitude you at rather should dictate when they go out like where im at in the uk 56ish it has to be just after the solstice in mid may or you will get them trying to bloom then reveg on straight photos otherwise

Damn, I will try. Might have to find a different place for it, in the shed or something perhaps. It's stinking up the house and I don't have a proper indoor setup for it at the moment.

How do you know that Frisian Dew goes to flower real quick? Personal experience? Or is there somewhere where I can read about strains and how quick they're "triggered" ? Not doubting you what so ever, just having a hard time finding info.

less than 10h of dark, some sativas will flower with 10
you can do 5h then light for 1h then 5h again and that will also break it
Gotcha, thanks!

I'm at 55'ish so more or less the same as you. But I've been following a guide written by the top cannabis seed company in my country, and they state that I should be able to put Frisian Dew outdoors at the end of March, which to me just seems way too early.

I am running 14 hours in the tent. May 2 here is 14 hours and a minute. I am planning to put the autoflowers out then and then waiting till May 5 for others.

14.5 is the trigger point. At 14 they flower and at 15 they veg. In actual practice after 12 years of starting inside and moving to outside in spring I've made virtually every mistake possible and fought early flower over and over and...... Southern California here at latitude 33 so adjust as needed for longer days further north but it's a good rule of thumb.

Only June and July have long enough days here to hold cannabis in veg. Seedlings not being light aware the first month can be direct started outside May 1st.

For best transfer you need seeds started on 15-9 and kept on that light schedule until set out June 1st. Anything else gets me preflower, stall, reveg, multi top medusa headed plants with a thousand tiny buds. Crap plants. Clones are especially sensitive to any sudden change in lighting hours and so easy to trigger.

So, after fighting and losing more than winning I now just light the damned plants up 24-0 from start until August 1st when I kill the yard lights and let the plants flower. Since I run mostly clones this works very well and I have zero worries about the plants jumping to flower until I say so.

Thanks for the insights! I'm going to end up copying your yard light setup a bit with a small bendable arm-LED above my plant, just for an hour extra every night to ensure veg.

Might do that until days are 15 or 16 hours long just to avoid any mistakes.

I am in one of the Nordic countries, so I understand the struggle. I should have stayed with autos but I really wanted to grow a big pheno this year.

I hope I get the good frisian dew too, didn't realize there was a crayon-tasting version, lol. So far it just smells citrusy.

I will extend the night with an LED for a month or so, hopefully by then it should be ok? According to timeanddate.com by the 21st April day length will be 14½ hour, so middle of may is probably a very safe bet for 15 or 15½ hours.
