Here we go popping the first batch for outdoor I got 30 early bird seeds from Vashon. My buddy had good luck with this strain last yr here in maine most were done mid sept. These are regs so i will be doing some pollen chucks on some keepers if found, The freebies i will be doing depo along other strains after last yrs disappointment with mold this yr needs to work or Iam giving up growing full season outdoor plants here, With depo a little planning an hard work i can get 3 crops in 6 months.IMG_0512.JPG

Going to give the full-season photoperiod outdoor one more chance, eh? Last year was rough alright.

Got my seeds in last night--planted the remaining Pine Tar Kush and Northern Lights beans I bought last year (6 each), plus the seeds I made from each of those and the crosses. Going to have my hands full with all these plus the hemp. Probably going to be giving away some plants this year. Will take another shot at making more seeds this year, too.

Weather here is typical April Maine--40 degree drizzle. Sounds like tomorrow will be a complete washout.

I’m excited to see how these run for you this year, I’m planning on running a handful of early bird as well. Hopefully it’s as good as I hear and we can chop before October!

running a few other strains, goal is trying to find something that finishes early enough before it all turns to shit.

Damn, way worse than what we had here in Knox County. Quite a bit of snow and wind with some tree limbs down but nothing like that. Power stayed on the whole time, probably just luck.

I'm bracing for some wild and weird weather this summer.
This winter has been very mild zero snow sled riding here but dam nasty storms have lost power here for multiple days 4 times the last 6 months, We are going to get a drought at some point cant keep raining like this.

Oklaoma has beem really nice and the winter was a bit mild. The chickens did a good job getting the garden ready

Got my plants in during the eculipse and dropped seeds for my son's grow. My plants were about a foot tall and topped. This is the first time everything was ready to just walk out put the plants in the ground.

This year there's only four plants, 1 Chocolope, 1 Super Lemon Haze, 1 Oreoz, and one hemp plant per my wife's request.

What do you do with a hemp plant?

Weeds, my wife, wants it for her morning juice. Ever since I told her that it has more vitiaims than kale she puts in morning juice. Trouble is she wants fresh leafs and last year she had me rasise 5 hemp plants just for the CBD. I now have a pantry full of hemp that from last year that she doesn't want and I can't even give it away. But, she wants fresh leafs and I have to keep her happy.

That's the ONLY reason I grow hemp.

This came up in early March from seeds planted last fall and is showing fem. It may flower and finish, it may stay in veg, or it may reveg after flowering for a while. I have seen all 3 scenarios in plants that sprout naturally outdoors in the spring. It came from a septoria resistant mother plant, that was pollinated with a fairly resistant father. My first summer of planning on getting septoria and selecting for resistant cultivars as my primary goal.outdoor.jpg

Well the first glitch of the season the early bird from Vashon seeds is bunk, Out of 30 seeds I got 11 plants above ground 4 of those are so weak cant even shed the shells, So i guess JBC is moving old seeds Now i know why they send 3 pacs. Sucks took a chance have emailed the breeders 24 hrs ago no response . Its strange when i emailed them to ask where to buy their seeds they got back to me in less than a hr. I have been buying seeds from north atlantic the past 4 years not one seed has failed to sprout. Iam not even going to bother reaching out to JBC they new these seeds were old an sold them anyway blood suckers!!!

That sucks, but as you say there's still time for plan B.

I think I'm dealing with the same thing here with a bunch of my hemp seeds. The seedbank I'd been using appears to have gone out of business so I went with a different supplier. I think 14 germinated out of 50 and they look really weak. That means old seed? I emailed them, we'll see what they say. Meanwhile I need to scramble and find a trustworthy supplier. Going to try and make my own seeds again this summer--the ones from last summer germinated just fine and the seedlings look great. The Northern Lights will get up-potted later this week:

Ya i dropped a bunch of my own beans last week. Vashon is suppose to drop fresh ones in the mail today but they are in BC so see how long it takes. I might just veg them 24-7 until the solstice then put them out in 10 gal buckets at this point dont no what the heck iam doing.

Don't give up on seedlings from older seeds! They may start slow, but if they are genetics you value they can bounce back, given time.
