The Garlic Pickle x Kali Mist male had some performance anxiety. We took some of the mature male pods and put them on parchment and I was able to get some pollen. I will keep the male isolated and alive for another round of pollination.

We started by opening a container of pollen from 7eastgenetics. We brushed the watermelon dragon pollen on the Nepali Watermelon Hash Plant, the Kali Mist, and the Purple Lemon Thai.

Since Pickle Rick is late to drop pollen, we placed the most developed pollen pods on some parchment paper. This pollination got personal as I rubbed the pods with my meaty claws and then rubbed the pistils.

I'm keeping the male alive for another week and plan to do the pollinations again.

I have high hopes, but this is only my second grow and my first time intentionally making seeds.

My second most impressive Nepali WHP was a male and I have a top of him sitting in a window and am hoping he drops pollen eventually.

First pollination was a lot of fun. I'm excited for the future.

I AM GETTING A SHIRE CUT OF SSSDH AND WOULD LOVE TO CROSS IT WITH SUNSHINE DAYDREAM. IF ANYONE HAS MALE POLLEN, F2 SEEDS, OR A CUT THEY'D BE WILLING TO SHARE, YOU COULD MAKE MY DREAM OF MY PERFECT STRAIN HAPPEN! And of course I would give many many seeds.

My original intention was to create a euphoric and uplifting strain that is clear headed and doesn’t give me anxiety. Pretty much a perfect companion for a beach day or a day on the lake.

After reading about the effects of the whp, I decided I wanted to cross her with something that would enhance the melon flavor and hopefully make the whp less wild. Also to add some frost.

Kali Mist was one of the first kind bud strains I had and I remember it being uplifting and kinda psychedelic. My original plan was to cross the Kali mist, the whp, and the watermelon dragon through a couple generations.

I didn’t plan to keep a male. I had culled 4 over my two grows. Don Pickles/Pickle Rick/Garlic Pickle dad was resinous, showed some trichomes, and had such a strong odor I decided I needed to keep him. One of the whp plants has a strong melon and death smell so I’m excited to see what comes out of that cross. I plan to get a good amount of pollen and store it for future runs. I have plans to cross cocoon and the day 56 headband x ‘88g13hp. I think the garlic pickle Kali mist would do well with that.

So that’s pretty much it. I wanted to make a happy cross.

Sounds good. From experience and breeder recommendations, I’ve found that it’s best to try (smoke) the females first before pollinating it. Descriptions aren’t always accurate because everyone’s body chemistry is different. I’ve chucked some pollen on females before for the hell of it but always regret it after because I could have had more bud. I’ve also had awesome females (in the plant aspect) that smoked mediocre or below my standards. I guess it all depends on space and goals. Best of luck with your projects. Sounds like you got your work cut out for you.

If I were to pollinate late in flower would my buds just produce a few seeds on th outside?

you can carefully pollinate just the lower branch/branches. If you will be keeping the flower for your self you can just lightly pollinate the whole plant if you want and only have few seeds per flower.

I’m more wondering if I got some late flower pollen sacs and let them go would it only produce some seeds on the outside of the flowers? Basically making fems?

This is the wrong thread to go in depth about this but basically STS spray blocks ethylene, which is the female hormone, causing it to produce pollen. Because it’s a female plant, there is no male chromosome, so the progeny will be all female. On the other hand, when a plant “herms”, it does so for self-preservation. It has higher sensitivity to stress, which causes it to go in freak out mode and fuck itself and make seeds because it thinks it’s going to die. This is more of an epigenetic trait. Imagine if humans could do that…
