Honest thoughts on Budwashing outdoor plants?

I've done it a few times, IMHO, it does not help the quality, tends to mess with the bud structure (makes them airy) and it kills the terpenes and smell. Sometimes you have to do it (real dirty, DE, sprays for PM, etc.) but if I can avoid it I will.

Sounds like some real quality growers here at rollitup.org

I look at weed under a microscope every day. Where is the dust? Healthy cannabis does not collect dust, it turns dust into foliar nutrients. Pet hair and blanket fabrics are stoppable with a basic furnace filter.

If you can't grow weed without mold, stop growing weed.

Not everyone has neighbors, or neighbors who spray weird stuff, I could see how that would be problematic though if you did. You bring up a good point about running air purifiers and/or filtration on intake air, I bet that could improve things significantly.
I think "clean" is a subjective term, the idea of bug shit,(not that I grow buggy plants) or pine needles on my buds doesn't bother me near as much as the idea of human dander, dust, or zipper threads, but to each their own. That's the great thing about growing your own, you don't have to rely on anyone else's idea of what is "clean".

It sounds like you really care about the cleanliness of your pot. You probably grow some amazing, clean, weed, I'd love to try it. Wish you could try mine.

I should change my previous statement from, "Indoor pot is much dirtier than outdoor.", to, A lot of indoor pot is much dirtier than outdoor pot.
Fair enough. I check the weather app on my phone a lot and it gives the air quality, too. Because I live in a city, the outdoor air is often polluted with everything from car exhaust, forest fire smoke, etc. My indoor air, by comparison, is always good because it's so highly filtered.

Am I the only one here that's knowingly smoked spider mites? Long time ago, I remember seeing the little bastards on some top shelf I bought a gram of and I was like, okay guys, it's time to burn in hell...

The only way I would wash my buds is if they had mildew and I would use a light brushing technique.
Nope think its a badge of honor

Don't wash bud!!!, take a air compressor hose and snap in a blow device and blow them off, works great, and removes beat leaves and any other debris, while not risking getting your plants moldy. I grow outdoors and use this method,I have a portable compressor also, don't have to use a big garage style compressor.
This should only be done with a oilless compressor. Standard units carry a mist of oil that greases the tools that are attached.
You wouldn't want that oil on your buds.

Thanks for concern,it is an oiless one that I have, portable and not powerful enough to run impact tools, just fills tires and has a air gun attachment.

Ya whatever I lose in terps or whatever I gain by not smoking bird shit and god knows what else. I thought it was a crazy idea but after i did it the first time and saw the amount of bullshit that comes off them I am a firm believer.

Outdoor not indoors

The main thing w/H2O is that it gets in the nooks and crannies of the buds and then you have to worry about mold issues, after I chop and blow them off I hang them up in my weight room and have 3 fans and 2 windows open for air circ.,last thing I need is wet plants, also have scented candles in the house and plenty of Febreeze, usually no odor issues after 2wks.

I'D say mostly mold,I grow outdoors and ev. morning in fall there is dew on the plants,it's just if you soak them after chop it's tough to get ALL the water off, like I said it collects in tough to get spots.
