First time with autoflowers and they seem to suck generally

So my first time with auto flowers wasn’t as grand as people say. I can say for certain I prefer Regular female plants over autos. Seems they flower a lil too early for me. My smallest one pre flowered as a seedling luckily it grew some size but prob will only get 1-2 oz if lucky. Only benefit I can think of is whenever it’s done sooner then the rest I can put new seedlings in the tent and have weed to smoke sooner

The little tiny one is funny. Sorry to hear that. They’re some pretty good threads on autos on here on the best techniques to grow autos to get the best yields I don’t prefer them as I like the control with photos but have had some decent luck with the autos I tried. I can say strain and grow techniques are crucial for best yields in autos. I know that is true for all grows but can seriously show huge difference in autos

Grower inexperience.
I wouldn't run just autos in a room, but they have their place. Newer growers should stick to photos, as they can make mistakes and just lengthen the veg time to make up for it where an auto doesn't have that luxury. I like to run them in dedicated veg rooms/mom rooms. I also experiment with diff techniques and products on them as I don't really care what the outcome is good or bad
Mephistos wedding in the mom tent just starting to flower in coco/perlite and maxigrow nutes.

I wouldn't Chalk it all up to grower inexperience because my last couple grows were pretty great. Also if you check all the photos you can see the other 3 plants are doing better.. Each plant is a different strain from different breeders. I have a good feeling about 2 of them and I feel Like the other two will be lackluster. Cant wait to finish’s so I can start on some better genetics A809E704-FC94-4B52-A47E-DE1E57BDC9A3.jpeg picture of my last grow for reference of my skill

Genetics play a huge role yes. I'd still say it's grower error.

Did one dinafem cheese auto freebie way back. Turned out awesome but was only one cola like 12” tall. Never tried them again

I laughed When it preflowered at 2 weeks old

I like auto genetics, I've had good results. My recent run was of the Ethos Pluto Cut RF3 with some LST. But all the conditions matter from age of seed to storage and cold shock before growing. I see autos reacting to a cold shock with good results

By cold shock. I plant all auto seeds I grow in a mildly wet substrate and put the pot in the fridge for a week or two then I cover seed with a humidity dome and put on the floor of a growing veg tent until it pops. Usually 4-6 days. Simulates a natural process of nature witch autos are used to in natural environment of original non photo genetics

They defo a gamble. I've had GDP autos pull half a pound and filled a 2x4 per plant, and a purple Passion that maxed out at 40cm with room to spare in A 1.6x1.6. I'd say out of 12-14 autos I've had two that have pre flowered around week two which puts a damper on fun.

The only reason I run them is the ability to stagger and the ability to run a less intense light for longer to reach DLI. I like being able to pop seedlings in my flower tent due to space issues.

The variation can be insane. Here's two auto GDPs in a 140x60 tent at day 40 from seed, and a purple Passion at day 60 in a 50x50 lol. The size extremes can be nuts, and isn't worth it if your are relying on yield.

I'd say on average I pull between 4-5 Oz off each auto though, with the worst being that purple Passion at 2 Oz, and the best being 7.6.

To each their own, though I prefer photos autos do work well for short outdoor seasons.
Strangely enough I have had terrible luck with autos outside. I'm lucky to pull 50g off any auto I try outside lol. Complete fail.

I've noticed I get next to zero satellite branching with autos outside, yet indoor I get prominent side branching by the second week.

I added a second tent, a 4x2 and grew some autos, didn't like them. Just too damn finicky and the possibility of stunting is a turn off.

I like to have control of veg time and don't like growing plants with an internal time clock. And of course, $yield$ :D
